About this listen

The second Maisie Dobbs mystery

Jacqueline Winspear’s marvelous debut, Maisie Dobbs, won her fans from around the world and raised her intuitive, intelligent, and resourceful heroine to the ranks of literature’s favorite sleuths. Birds of a Feather, its follow-up, finds psychologist and private investigator Maisie Dobbs on another dangerously intriguing adventure in London “between the wars.”

It is the spring of 1930, and Maisie has been hired to find a runaway heiress. But what seems a simple case at the outset soon becomes increasingly complicated when three of the heiress’s old friends are found dead. Is there a connection between the woman’s mysterious disappearance and the murders? Who would want to kill three seemingly respectable young women? As Maisie investigates, she discovers that the answers lie in the unforgettable agony of the Great War.

Great plot and character depth

Love Maise! Interesting developments in her personal and professional lives. I love the way she is humble, but confident. She reads people, but often is surprised when something is revealed about her own character.

Way Past Excellent!

I am now going through the Maisie Dobbs series for the third time. They are so rich. I’m very glad that there are so many in the series, because when I start over it’s still fresh. Finally, I’m very glad to see that Orlagh Cassidy’s credit evolved from “read by” to “performed by”. She is an amazing vocal talent and a great match for Jacqueline Winspears’ extraordinary writing.

What does that feather mean?

A great mystery detective story, well written, beautifully narrated. Learned much about England, places and settings, colloquialisms, and the war, almost historical fiction.

I love the Maisi character!

I also really like her focus on a balanced mind. So I love reading about her relationship with Dr. Blanche

Good, solid story. Very good narration.

Didn’t give it a 5, b/c the characters did not grab me. But it’s a well written, good story. Very good mystery. Excellent narration. I would listen to another by this author with this narrator.

Best Maisy Dobbs Book Yet!

This storyline was so intriguing!!! A great mystery that only Maisy could solve! The narration is the best of the best! I also love how Maisy doesn’t just find the killer, she helps everyone else along the way!

incredibly insightful

I'm absolutely amazed that the main character has been taught to listen with her body and feel and understand situations by mirroring the posture and languaging of other people.
