Publisher's summary

Inspired by the classic Led Zeppelin song, and the 12th Justice Security story, Black Dog takes place very soon after the events of Hell's Bells. The story opens with Jessica Queen, Percival "King Louie" Washington, and Dexter Beck dealing with recurring nightmares.

The dreams are so bad that all three consult with Dr. Caleb Mitchell, the Justice Security staff psychiatrist. Caleb discovers a common thread running through the dreams and prescribes two things for each of them: a strong sedative to help them sleep and to deal with the apparent issues that are causing the nightmares.

Easier said than done.

Jessica must deal with an earlier case - the genetically enhanced dog from Mama Told Me Not to Come. While assurances came from the owners of the deadly dog's siblings, Jessica doesn't believe that all of them are dead.

Louie, on the other hand, must deal with the betrayal of his former girlfriend Donna. Since Donna was an agent working for Esteban Fernandez, Louie has been afraid to date anyone. He must overcome his fears and convince himself that not every woman is going to betray him and those he loves.

Dexter is dealing with his own issues, and his problems won't go away without some serious soul-searching. Meanwhile, Carly Stewart-Li has returned from rehab and has made an unexpected life choice: She's chosen to turn her back completely on Hollywood and wants to become a plainclothes operative for Justice Security!

Grief, twists, turns, and the loss of another partner - Black Dog gives you a look at the private lives of the people of Justice Security!

Another great story!

This story says that it has fantasy in it and to those of you like me that don't like that genre don't worry the author hasn't gone far into the supernatural. This is actually a pretty good story although I was getting nervous it might cause me nightmares if it continued too much longer. There are great characters in this series that are great human beings and they help to keep you interested in reading more of the books in the series. A great book. I received a free code for this book from Audiobooks Unleashed to listen to on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion.

A journey of healing!

The story begins with three disturbing tales of death. Three singular deaths, that mentally traumatized three of the partners in the Justice Security Company. Louie, Dexter, and Jessica are each suffering reoccurring nightmares of the events. The focal event centers around Jessica, her near-death experience facing a genetically enhanced bullmastiff. There were three other pups in the litter, also understood to be genetically enhanced. The geneticist believed this would aid and hasten their training. Concern that the other bullmastiffs may be as dangerous as the one killed by Jessica prioritized the search. Continuing, we’re given a touching account of the Justice Security clan helping each other through their distress, searching for an answer to the nightmares, while looking for an end to the bullmastiff threat. It’s a decent story, primarily about the lives of the people who are Justice Security. I did enjoy the tale.

Entertaining and a bit nostalgic.

Captivated from the first few words spoken. I grew up as a ride-along on long road trips with my dad. We used to listen to AM radio frequencies listening to most vividly told stories. Fully engaged and creating my own visuals to go along with the narration. Picturing each character with the distinct voice provided by the narration. A keeper and will be listened to again. No spoilers.

Fascinating Storylines

I truly found this book to be entertaining and intriguing. I can't wait to get into more stories from this author. The characters are quite different from other books I have read. Justice Security Agency is not just a workplace it is a family that sticks together through thick and thin. The only issue I had with this book was the narrator she doesn't fit the story in my opinion. I received this book from Audiobooks Unleashed and this is my honest unbiased review.
