About this listen

Teresa Edwards has won more Olympic medals than any other basketball player in history with four golds and one bronze. She is the youngest woman to win a gold medal in basketball - and the oldest. She’s a WNBA pioneer and has been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Now, for the first time, she shares the story of her greatest loss - and her most incredible victory. She tells the inside story of laboring in the shadow of Michael, Magic, Bird and Sir Charles - the men’s basketball “Dream Team” - and how she helped lead the USA women’s basketball squad to a golden dream of their own at the Atlanta Olympic Games. This is about more than basketball. This is an inspiring tale of what it costs to lose, what it takes to win, and how women can lead the way.

Eye Opening

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this read but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy watching sports especially football, soccer, and basketball but there’s so much of it that I don’t understand. I actually felt like I was right there with Teresa and I enjoyed every detail of her shared life experiences. Thank you Teresa!

A great experience from start to finish

I loved loved loved this experience!

I was interested in the story from the beginning knowing how important the USA Women Basketball team was to us as U.S citizens. But to know what Teresa went through and how she overcame and responded was a display of resilience we could all learn from. I highly recommend this audible to anyone who’s a fan of basketball and stories of black greatness. Thank you Teresa 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Her love and devotion to the game!

How can anyone find anything wrong or bad about her-sharing her life story. Facts a story a white woman never heard. I loved basketball but never got picked to play unless all the players had fouls. I just sat on the bench.
Thanks for the story and commitment, it’s why I can watch women play March Madness.
CONGRATULATIONS I TOTALLY-UNDERSTAND your loss.

Great

I probably would have loved it more if I were a sports fan. The narration was great and I love the message. "You better play!"

Quick story about my friend Teresa

Teresa Edwards! Where do I start? For those that don’t know her, what you hear is who she is. There are people that come into your life and you’re better for it. I met Teresa decades ago in the Atlanta gyms. We played with and against each other for years and she is just as exceptional a person as she is a basketball player. Teresa can better tell these stories than can I but I recall a day we were on the same team and inevitably, a Cro-Magnon was on the opposing team. He decided it a good idea to talk trash about “this girl”. I recall laughing because I knew what was going to happen. I took the ball out and passed it to Teresa and got out of the way. She marched it up in this slow, deliberately deadly form that is only Teresa. He was guarding her. Once she crossed half court, she stepped right with a hard dribble, he went for it being the overly confident clown he was. She took it behind her back, set her feet and launched. Nothing but was the result! I would like to reiterate, she was about a foot inside half court! She didn’t say a word and simply back peddled to play defense. I on the other hand couldn’t contain my laughter which made brick head all the more angry.

I have many of these stories but what I recall as much as these bball diaries is her personality. Each time we greeted one another it was with a hug and kiss on the cheek. Teresa is a genuinely great person. My path forced me to leave Atlanta and I have not seen her in years. I am hopeful this review will somehow reach her and she remembers so we can catch up. My name is Shaun Emmons and we used to play at Crunch in Buckhead. I too remember shawty white. He was fire but when you d'ed him up he'd also call found and smile at you. My email is shaun.emmons@gmail.com. Teresa, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wish you and yours continued success and love. Take care! 😉

Excellent Story

I really enjoyed Black Gold by Theresa Edwards, olympian who is career spanned a lifetime. This was a fast, fun listen that motivated me. I listened with my 5 year old son who was fascinated by the story and driven to get out on the court. Her story is powerful and I liked that she was the one reading it to me. Theresa really is Black Gold.
