About this listen

In Thailand, two men hire some modern-day pirates to hijack a Russian freighter. It is appallingly easy, and the ship sails, undetected, toward the western coast of North America.

On the Bering Sea, the USS Sojourner Truth, a Coast Guard cutter, patrols the Maritime Boundary Line. The seasoned crew, dealing with a high volume of ocean-going traffic, is finding that choppy seas are making their efforts even more difficult.

In Washington, D.C., a CIA analyst traces the sale of black market plutonium. As the pieces fit together, he realizes that a terrorist attack is under way on a valuable, and vulnerable, American target. He also sees that the Sojourner Truth is sailing right into the attack, putting his estranged wife, the second in command on the Sojourner, at the heart of an international crisis. Relentlessly gripping and frighteningly plausible, The Blindfold Game is the pinnacle of Dana Stabenow's award-winning career.

Not the same

I've read most of Stabenow's books and this one does not measure up to what I'm used to. I enjoyed the story, but the suspense was not there. This was not one of those stories where you can't put it down. Her Shugak novels are those types of stories. This is not one of those novels you're afraid to read on a cold stormy night. An interesting story, but not up to the Shugak quality.

Great Find

I found this author via Diane Gabaldon's "Methadone List" (books she recommends to addicted fans while they pine away for more Gabaldon stories) The Methadone List has never let me down

Stabenow writes very well, adds lots of unexpected twists and does not disappoint in any way. Finding a new favorite author always makes my day

Pretty good story

Although not my favorite book by this author, I still enjoyed the story. It starts out a little slow, but builds up to hold your interest. Seems to have been well researched.

disappointed

I have read and enjoyed this author's previous works which are modern detective stories with style. This book, however, is a stretch with little plot development and few interesting characters. The narration is flat, save your time and money.

Coast Guard comes through

Blindfold Game has good suspense and plot development with as many twists and turns as its ocean setting has high waves. How often do you find a story with a female Coast Guard hero? At first, I was a bit put off by the narrator's somewhat stilted style; but as the story developed, it became irrelevant. A good read!

Excellent Listen

I have read and enjoyed this author's previous Kate Shugak and Liam Campbell series and was not sure how I would like this stand alone novel. However, I must say I think this is one of her best. The reader did and excellent job with quite a large cast of characters.

The story was interesting and moved at a good pace, the theme could be from today's headlines, and the ending is worthy of a Hollywood action film.

Quick paced, small surprise. Love the use if nontraditional organizations I.e. Coast Guard, Greenpeace. Dana knows how to tell a tale.

Characters

The very real terrorist threat presented by enormous shipping traffic along coastlines, and ability of Coast Guard to adequately patrol.
