About this listen

A heart-stopping emotional thriller with a breathtaking twist from the best-selling author of The Happy Couple Samantha Hayes.

January 1992. A baby girl is left alone for a moment. Long enough for a mother to dash into a shop. Long enough for a child to be taken.

Thirteen years later, solicitor Robert Knight's stepdaughter wins a place at a prestigious London school for the gifted. The only puzzle is his wife Erin's reaction. Why is she so reluctant to let Ruby go? Doesn't she want what's best for her? As Erin grows more evasive, Robert can't help but feel she has something to hide and when he stumbles on mysterious letters, he discovers she has been lying to him. Somewhere in his wife's past lies a secret; a shocking secret that threatens to destroy everything....

Thrilling and gripping, Blood Ties will make you ask what dark secrets lie behind your neighbours' closed doors. Perfect listening for anyone who loved The Wife Between Us, The Girl on the Train or Gone Girl.

Possible spoilers..Not usually a review writer but

Am i the only one who found Robert to be a terrible character? I struggled to find a single redeeming quality in him. Other than being a hypocrite (meeting up with another woman without telling his wife while assuming she was cheating because she communicated with a man he didn't know about), he had no respect for his wifes privacy even after what happened with his first wife and tried to justify his snooping by what he found. Among his numerous sins, the one i found most unforgivable was his willingness to hand over his step daughter (who he claimed to love like his own) to a complete stranger without an ounce of proof or full consideration of the effect this would have on the people involved solely based on his idea of justice. Hating his character so much made it hard for me to get through the book in places but overall not a bad book.
