About this listen

When a mysterious new weapon tips the balance against American and allied forces throughout the Middle East, the only person the president can call for help is the man the administration has just fired: Navy SEAL turned covert Homeland Security operative, Scot Harvath.

Caught live on Al Jazeera in an off-the-books operation, Harvath is forced to go to ground, as a senator with presidential aspirations turns her sights on the White House and forces President Jack Rutledge to publicly end the career of America's number-one counter-terrorism operative.

But when the tide in the war against terror suddenly turns against the West, the president has no choice but to bring Harvath back inside. Ducking a congressional subpoena, Harvath travels to Cyprus where he learns about a weapon called The Sword of Allah, which terrorists intend to use to rid all Muslim lands of Western infidels. As the layers of truth unfold, Harvath is witness to realities more menacing than he ever could have imagined and must rely solely on his instincts to confront a new evil closing in on the United States.

With his characteristic precision in describing military technology, high-voltage action, and sweeping international sensibility, Brad Thor has created another supercharged novel that is sure to thrill.

I was happy with the plot. I was unhappy when a forklift with flat tires was pushed by two guys and a gal. Forklifts have solid rubber tires. They are much heavier than an automobile and are geared low so even if in neutral, it would take another forklift not people to push it. Otherwise another good story!

Good book

I am following Harvath through harrowing exploits. My hope is that patriots really care about America this much and terrorists don’t think of this stuff.

Brad Thor, though has to do better than these women who are just “gorgeous!” Every book so far has women, and men, too, so stereotypically based.

Oh well, I guess you can’t have everything.
Oh! And while I like the narrator’s voice for almost everyone, he makes Scot sound too old.

Scary stuff

enjoy the story for what it is, a fun espionage action romp. really dislike the tactical product placement vibes of thing used, it takes me out of the story but that could just be me.

always fun

Thank God I keep going after the first two Scot Harvath novels. New narrator and writing makes these books amazing. Hopefully it continues.

what a difference

First off I’ll state that I’m a fan of George Guidall. Second I’ll admit that I’m late to the realm of Scott Harvath. I’m only familiar with Brad Thor because he’s mentioned in some of the other books that I’ve listened to.
In fact I would have to say that Scott Harvath is my least favorite of the protagonists I have in my collection. That said I still enjoyed this novel.
I’m writing this review on 8/17/2021. There’s some pretty scary stuff unfolding in the Middle East and the subject matter in this novel loosely coincides with current events.
The story is intriguing and entertaining and I pray that nothing like this ever comes to pass.
Definitely worth a credit!

Scot Harvath books have long been some of my favorite to read/listen too, and this is no exception. Brad Thor has done it again with Blowback. Can't wait for the next one to be released!

Another Excellent Book!

the reader is a great narrator, but lousy at doing male character voices. they all sound like old men with a smoking problem. even the main character, who is 35, sounds 65.

could have been better

loved the book, loving the series. I have to say, and no offense to the narrator as he is obviously very skilled and talented, but his voice ageds Scott by 30 years. It's like trying to watch Tom Cruise play Jack Reacher, an extremely talented actor, but just not right for the character. whatever, I'm buying the next book now.

Great book! keeping me hooked on the series!

This book has a pretty tricky plot twist and a few memorable characters I know we haven't seen the last of!

the stakes are huge and our character has a monumental task and we also get to unravel some of Harvath's past.

this is a great change of pace!

This one has a bit of history involved which was a nice twist! Hannibal’s ancient war tactics were interesting to learn about. 5/5. Do it.

Another solid Brad Thor book
