About this listen

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The evidence is irrefutable: In sixteen New York Times bestsellers over the course of as many years, Kathy Reichs has proven herself “a genius at building suspense” (New York Daily News). In forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan, Reichs has created a detective fiction heroine who’s brilliant to the bone. “Every minute in the morgue with Tempe is golden,” says The New York Times Book Review. In the acclaimed author’s thrilling new novel, Brennan is at the top of her game in a battle of wits against the most monstrous adversary she has ever encountered.

Unexpectedly called in to the Charlotte PD’s Cold Case Unit, Dr. Temperance Brennan wonders why she’s been asked to meet with a homicide cop who’s a long way from his own jurisdiction. The shocking answer: Two child murders, separated by thousands of miles, have one thing in common—the killer. Years ago, Anique Pomerleau kidnapped and murdered a string of girls in Canada, then narrowly eluded capture. It was a devastating defeat for her pursuers, Brennan and police detective Andrew Ryan. Now, as if summoned from their nightmares, Pomerleau has resurfaced in the United States, linked to victims in Vermont and North Carolina. When another child is snatched, the reign of terror promises to continue—unless Brennan can rise to the challenge and make good on her second chance to stop a psychopath.

But Brennan will have to draw her bitter ex-partner out of exile, keep the local police and feds from one another’s throats, and face more than just her own demons as she stalks the deadliest of predators into the darkest depths of madness.

In Bones Never Lie, Kathy Reichs never fails to satisfy readers looking for psychological suspense that’s more than skin-deep.

Critic reviews

“Kathy Reichs writes smart—no, make that brilliant—mysteries that are as realistic as nonfiction and as fast-paced as the best thrillers about Jack Reacher, or Alex Cross.”—James Patterson

“Nobody does forensics thrillers like Kathy Reichs. She’s the real deal.”—David Baldacci

“Kathy Reichs continues to be one of the most distinctive and talented writers in the genre. Her legion of readers worldwide will agree with me when I declare that the more books she writes, the more enthusiastic fans she’ll garner.”—Sandra Brown

Loved the story

her stories always keep me interested. There were some twists that I wasn't expecting. I wasn't keen on the reader though.

The details of the characters and settings were extremely illuminating.

The story lagged and slow at certain times and could have been much shorter. You could see the abduction of Mary Louise long before it occurred.

Good entertaining mystery

What does Katherine Borowitz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a good voice. Easy to listen to. Brings credibility to the story with her voice.

No.

Any additional comments?

Dedicated “Bones” follower, but...

I love Kathy Reichs Bones books, I’ve read all of them and I also love the Bones tv series. I have literally 2 issues; the first is how the progress Brennen and Slidell make goes back to almost a negative step one with each new book. By now they’ve gone through so much they have to have a respect and friendship formed. Why do we always have to be reintroduced to Slidell as this annoying and irritating person? The second and bigger issue is Brennens relationship with Ryan. Her constant misinterpretation or misunderstanding of his behavior is exhausting. She’s supposed to be a strong and extremely intelligent woman yet she behaves like a dramatic teenage girl constantly. It’s such stupid-typical-girl-melodrama and so unnecessary. Brennen being strong enough to accept and engage in a real relationship with Ryan only enhances her character and strength. I literally want to fast forward through her interactions with Ryan because it makes her sound so pathetic and weak. Really wish this part of her character could be corrected.
The detail and information discussed in the stories I LOVE.

Another awesome book by Kathy Reichs.

Where does Bones Never Lie rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks among the best of my audiobook collection. There are several cliff hangers that I hope will be revealed in the next book in the series. I wonder if Kathy can write faster, it will be hard waiting for the next edition.

Predictable story

Unlike most of the books with the same protagonist, I was able to predict the outcome. A little disappointed, as these stories usually have numerous twists and turns leaving you guessing who done it.
