Great book, fair performance

loved the reader's enthusiasm with the characters, however he could do with looking a few words up for the correct pronunciation, and occasionally the jarring sound of a page turning loudly can be heard.

Great start to the SERRAted Edge series!

Aside from a narrator who didn't do his research on a few pronunciations (ex: Keighvan is pronounced Kegvan throughout), great 1st book in this series! I read it in print when it first came out and loved it and I really enjoyed reading it again in this Audible version. I'm so glad they recorded it unabridged!

Worth the wait...

I read this series when it came out many years ago and have missed it. Having been out of print for so long, I'm glad it is finally back. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

One of my all-time favorite books!

I love this book and it's series, therefore I was so excited to find it finally on Audible. The characters are individuals and full, story is thorough with a rich history and the action is well thought out and executed. Love it!

The narration, however... If you tell me the authors gave Wiggins the pronunciations, then I'll feel better about it. Otherwise the constant inhaling through the nose and every character, male or female, sounding exactly alike bothered me through the entire book. Granted I'm coming into this book after an RC Bray binge, but MAN this guy needs to sharpen his skills.

I'm glad I have this story and I'll continue through the series, hoping along the way Wiggins will get better.

Solid Story, Appalling Narration

The story, which I first read in book form when it was originally released, is a decent urban fantasy. The framing of car racing is a bit cheesy, but not too obtrusive. And the writing is typical of Mercedes Lackey, with engaging characters, good plotting, and enjoyable action scenes.

The narration, though, sounds like it was done by a bright 12-year-old. The narrator knows _most_ of the words and makes a valiant try at the unfamiliar ones. But there is no sense of storytelling. The phrasing is odd and words are nearly randomly emphasized. Voices are weak and often indistinguishable. And the accents are poorly handled. One of the worst narrators I've heard on Audible, and I've listened to more than 1200 books here.
