About this listen

USA Today best-selling author Amanda Ashley has been crafting fan-favorite vampire romances for over 25 years. In Bound by Night, the Wolfram estate is a crumbling wreck of its former glory. Once featured in a horror film, it is said to be haunted by all manner of paranormal spooks. But Elena doesn’t believe any of that nonsense and decides to spend the night there anyway. Imagine her surprise when she awakes in the arms of a vampire - the most beautiful man she’s ever seen.

A surprising great vampire story!!

I absolutely enjoyed every moment listening to this story because of the adventures and the way you get to learn about the vampire world and their hierarchy. There is a vampire council and love and even the hope of vampire babies!
Plus the narrator was great:)

Good parts and bad parts

Is there anything you would change about this book?

it went on and on with no end in sight with little purpose other than to go on and on while also not describing events worth describing.

Would you be willing to try another book from Amanda Ashley? Why or why not?

Maybe, but after this that may be a hard sell.

Was Bound By Night worth the listening time?

?

Any additional comments?

There were portions of this book that were absolutely engrossing, but those parts were surrounded buy little more than filler. Even the passage of time in this book was a pointless filler. There were some many thing worth writing about that were glossed over, mean while shopping trips were described in useless detail.

Good story of love conquering all!!!

This story is a very good story it started off a little slow and the voice was kind of relaxing and was putting me to sleep, the narrator makes a big difference in a story but after the first part of the story the story and the narrator kicked it up and the story and ending was very good.

Bound by Night, but not by editing.

This was an okay listen, not good nor really bad. The lead male character was a definite plus and the lead female was likeable - at least at first - but the whole story dragged on and was all over the place. Also, the author spent way too much time in the land of cliche.
This book didn't know WHAT it wanted to be: murder-mystery, political intrigue, family dynamics - it covered them all, and all under the umbrella of vampire romance. Going back and forth between plot lines, and in and out of character back-stories, it ended up a braided mess, no smooth movement, and not even a real climax. As the story moved on, I lost way too much interest in Elena, was predicting too many of the plot "twists," and was underwhelmed by the abuse of cliches.
EDITING was sorely missing, and the publishers did neither the author nor the story any favors. This is the first book that's probably better ABRIDGED.

Not too bad.

This was an okay story. A little predictable at times, and definitely could have been a shorter story. I felt like the author had a page number she was aiming for. The narrative was good, though the hero was a bit boring-sounding.

Very lackluster...

I've read a lot of Amanda Ashley books over the years, and really enjoyed them. But this book just fails to deliver. The story is okay, but I wouldn't waste your time if you have another choice.

For one, the story keeps wandering, from the issue of Elena and her uncle, to that of Drake and the vampires, and Drake and Elena. Then the author keeps adding little sub plots, such as Andre and Katya, and Stefan, and Elena & Verdine.

But there seems to be a lack of emotion in all of this, even though the author tells you Elena is upset, you watch Drake in pain, etc. It's just too bland. The reader doesn't help, but the story itself brings down the performance.

If you want to continue enjoying Amanda Ashley's books, don't listen to this one.
