About this listen

When the Academy Awards become the target of a brutal terror attack, only one man can stave off massive bloodshed.

Mind's Eye, the novel that introduced Nick Hall, was a runaway Kindle best seller. Now Hall returns in a riveting standalone thriller set in an Internet future that is just around the corner. From the New York Times best-selling author of Wired.

Nick Hall, an unwilling recipient of brain implants, can surf the Web with his thoughts and read minds. And while this makes him one of the most formidable men on Earth, he is determined to stay off the grid. But when terrorists seize control of the Academy Awards and vow to butcher the world's most beloved stars one by one in front of an international television audience, Hall is forced to reveal his astonishing capabilities.

Now power players around the world will stop at nothing to capture him. And as the secretive group working with Hall begins to unravel, he is sure of only two things: He has been betrayed by someone close to him. And the stakes he is playing for could not be any higher....

Based on actual research on thought-controlled Web surfing, BrainWeb is a smart thriller that raises a number of intriguing possibilities about a future that is rapidly approaching.

Good story

Better story than I expected. Well narrated. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I listened to it while driving to Texas and it kept me interested all the way.

Feels like the future

This is a nice follow up and continued Nick's story in worthy fashion. While I found a few of the mistakes made by characters to be nearly unbelievable, it didn't detract from the enjoyment factor. After all, people are stupid. If you haven't read the series, don't start here. Grab book 1, Mind's Eye. I'm starting book 3 now.

Continues to Amaze

I've read or listened to at half a dozen of his books. Love the way he researches near-future tech and then explores the practical applications alongside the morality issues. His thrillers keep moving and keep twisting. Well done again, Mr Richards. Also nice work by the narrator in creating easily distinguishable, unique characters.

Good Story and it's Great to Have Nick Back!

This sequel finds our heroes from the first book in a serious setting. Nick is forced to lead a group of commandos to stop a HORRIBLE attack on the Oscars.

They manage to do so, saving about 3,900 people.

New bad guys are back and loyalties are tested when a solo member of the core 6-person team faces unfair demons of his own.

In the final show down, loyalties are again tested, and chances taken to get the bad guys and reunite the team.

Get the Audio version if you can! It is so worth it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Brain web...will it destroy or save humanity?

Wonderful read!

Good book. Fast paced, well developed characters. A thick, multi layered plot with many surprises.

BrainWeb

Wisdom as learned from education s not necessarily all there is to life, life must be lived toi it's fullest extent to truly know. Knowledge is our goal in I'fe. Knowledge along with wisdom is what we achieve when we let go of the horrors of our pain. To fill the gap of pain with Love. Then we have come full circle. Douglas E Richards has not reached that plateau ads of yet, he will though. Awesome Novel.

Very Preachy

The first book of the installment was far better. This one is very preachy and goes on and on about one's belief, and then a lengthy, boring debate between two sides regarding technology, and then more preaching. It also feel very unpolished, the dialogue sometimes sounds like a TV script rather than a book.
