Publisher's summary

From the author of the international best-selling Tudor trilogy:

Handsome, charismatic, and a champion jouster, Sir Charles Brandon is the epitome of a Tudor knight. A favorite of King Henry VIII, Brandon has a secret. He has fallen in love with Henry’s sister, Mary Tudor, the beautiful, widowed Queen of France, and risks everything to marry her without the King’s consent.

Brandon becomes Duke of Suffolk, but his loyalty is tested fighting Henry’s wars in France. Mary’s public support for Queen Catherine of Aragon brings Brandon into dangerous conflict with the ambitious Boleyn family and the king’s new right-hand man, Thomas Cromwell.

Torn between duty to his family and loyalty to the king, Brandon faces an impossible decision: Can he accept Anne Boleyn as his new queen?

Rushed.

I've loved some of Tony Riches other books, but this one feels rushed like a tour where the guide is moving to quickly to go into anything deeper than slashed sleeves or that a lady having her hair down is a sign of her purity. The beginning didn't do this nearly as bad as the end. Bummer. This could've been so much more interesting. The narrator could've been better, but did what he could considering he couldn't settle into any one emotion longer than a second before progressing the story several years and a polar opposite emotion. Exhausting.

Charles Brandon

Excellent job by both author and narrator of The Duke of Suffolk but seems many true stories were left out according to all my research on the Tudor era.. Still a pleasant story over all on the life and loves of Charles Brandon..

Duplicate of Mary Tudor

I enjoyed this book, so much so I purchased Mary Tudor thinking I would get the story line from her perspective. However I found duplicated paragraphs and not much insight from her. I would suggest reading one or the other but don’t waste a purchase on both.

Brandon - the odd piece of the Tudor Puzzle

Wonderful book. Did not know much about the 1st Duke of Suffolk except for what was portrayed in the Tudors (Showtime Series).

I like the author’s portrayal of how Sir Charles always felt guilty over not being able to put his family first until much later in his life. He was a kind man, torn between his love for his King and his own life’s priorities.

Unfortunately i felt the story ended prematurely. But a wonderful book nonetheless.

NARRATOR IS AWFUL

NARRATOR ruined the story.
His voice was distracting Notching like other books about the men that surround Henry VIII A shame because he was the only friend Henry didn't have killed
