Story is excellent, narrator is not desirable

The narrator doesn't have a lot of variation between voices, so at times it made the story more confusing. Also, he has a tenancy to use nasally tones that, while good for evil characters, doesn't appropriate for some. He tends to think tough equals nasal. That said, this was one of the best books in this series for me in terms of story! I do recommend!

Culmination of Ephemera

What did you love best about Bridge of Dreams?

Not as dark as the Black Jewels novels, nor as bitter as Tir Alain, Ephemera retains the awareness of humanity's flaws, but approaches them with gentle humor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Shaman in Sanctuary. He is what everyone's favorite priest should be -- earthy, humorous, yet etherial.

What about Holter Graham’s performance did you like?

Holter Graham has a pleasing baritone that sometimes has slightly nasal overtones that remind one of northern native American's when speaking English.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Ephemera sometimes made me laugh, sometimes I cried. Mostly, it made me feel safe, like being at home.

Love This Author

I read these 3 books because I was told it was based on an interesting idea. If you like paranormal, read these. Different from other books I’ve read, which I would rate a 5 star, Black Jewel Series etc but I enjoyed these.

Story is brilliant, but narrator is awkward

Anne Bishop tells a great story of balance, female and male, dark and light, good and evil. Her characters are rich and well defined and she writes adventurous romance in a way that can be appreciated by both men and women. Unfortunately, the narrator has nearly all his characters pausing in places that can only be described as awkward and nasal. While it detracted from the experience, the story made it a worth while purchase. I'll listen to it again and again.

I have been waiting too long for Lee's Story

Where does Bridge of Dreams rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love Ann's Ephemera Series and hoped we would see Lee's story. It brings to life real possibilities - not to mention imagination. Glorianna Belladonna's character is scary not to mention some of the other characters. Makes you want to see the light side win and root for them.

What other book might you compare Bridge of Dreams to and why?

The series is like none other that I have seen. Ann has a wonderful way of describing the world of Ephemera in this series.

Which character – as performed by Holter Graham – was your favorite?

Since book one I have liked the Shaman character on Belladonna's Island. I like Holter Graham as a Narrator - and is often the thing that tips the scale when I am not sure whether I want the book or not.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Lee had to let go of Belladonna and all those he loved to keep them safe.

Any additional comments?

If you haven't listened to books 1 and 2 I recommend listening to them first - this will make the story much more moving to listen to.

good but...

I'm not sure if it's because it's been so long since I read the last book or if they story is a bit different from the first two but I didn't quite enjoy this one as much. Not bad, but not quite as good. I think part of it is I didn't like Lee quite as much as Gloryanna or Sebastian in their books. That said, if she wants to write another one I'll more than likely read it or listen to it as the case may be

Holter Graham always does a great job.

First two in series much better

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. I liked the premise of the first and the variation of the second, but this one just rehashes old ideas

Would you be willing to try another book from Anne Bishop? Why or why not?

I've read almost all of her books and this is the first one that bored me

Was Bridge of Dreams worth the listening time?

No.

Very repetitive

Did not care for the writing in this book. The plot seemed to meander around and never had any clear "vision" lol. Not some of her best work.

Eh

Narrators's voice used for females is super weird and off-putting, really had to power through this one. Would recommend reading instead of listening but honestly this was my least favorite of the 3 and I only finished it because I couldn’t just read 2 of 3 stories-I needed resolution. Overall-meh. She has much better books.
