An emotional standalone by Callie Anderson.
Ethan is the boy who climbed into my bedroom every night.
He's everything I love.
Laced with everything I despise.
He's every happy memory.
And every shattered dream.
He's my everything.
But he broke every part of me.
I'm supposed to hate him. But I can't. I don't know how.

There once was a boy who climbed into my bedroom window to escape the emotional and physical abuse taking place within his home. Instantly, a bond formed between them tethering them together. They were inseparable.
Both were tied to the demands placed upon them by their parents. He had a powerful father and she had a controlling mother. They had a pack and made promises to each other to leave town.
...but life had other plans for both of them. She ran away from the life she didn’t want anymore leaving him behind.
Overall:
I enjoyed the first half of the story where they were both young and still under the thumb of their parents. They seemed to be surviving just fine. Once graduation came upon them the story took a dark turn. It’s here where I questioned the darkness for it seemed too much all at once. Don’t get me wrong I love watching characters grow, adapt, and cope thru life’s lessons in life. This was excessive because it wasn’t just one character who had a shite storm it was all of them. For me it’s about actions and words and how characters behave in these situations. These characters tried my patience.
The years spent apart seemed convoluted considering how easily they reconnected. All was forgiven so easily. It seemed like a waste of time considering neither made a move to change it. It always takes situations beyond their control to force them to rethink the past.
Why do some authors feel the need to continuously test the love between two characters?
Where is this girl’s confidence and trust?
The story included an Epilogue which I like but it was jam packed with a the forever flowery promises. An entire story of depressing storyline with one chapter full of happiness.
I didn’t truly understand Ethan’s behavior towards the end. I felt it was unnecessary to have him behave that way. Not to mention he quickly changed his attitude without getting any help. It was obvious his attitude was created for a purpose.
Narrator:
Kristin James narrated the entire book. While she was an excellent voice for the main character and her mother I wasn’t entirely sold on her performance for Ethan and the other male characters. It was read perfectly. The sound quality was spectacular.
