About this listen

You don't get over killing your sister's husband. Accident or not. When 24-year-old Kate Hathaway graduated with honors from Emory University, she couldn't wait to begin an exciting career in publishing. But one stupid mistake on a cold, rainy morning in Atlanta changed everything. Not only was Glen Lloyd Hastings her brother-in-law but he was also her best friend. Tormented by guilt, she vowed to do anything to make amends to Stacey - her provocative, pampered sister. The once-brilliant career woman settles into a life of loneliness and caring for her ailing mother. On a business trip to New York City, she meets an enticing, mysterious man who coaxes her out of solitude and into a fiery love affair. Not so fast. Stacey won't allow it. The sisters become entangled in secrets, back-stabbing, and betrayal. Is it revenge or something far more sinister?

Great book but...

Oh Lordy I wanted to strangle that sister!!! I so wanted the protagonist to grow a backbone! This won’t mean anything unless you’ve read it so.... read it! The frustration and anger it evokes says great writing .
Her sister was “ cold as a bankers heart”... ;-) Enjoyed every minute of it.

What a wild ride!

Wow, that book started looking like a contemporary romance novel which is definitely not my type, quickly moved into a psychological thriller type book that I had to keep coming back to. Very entertaining listen!

And oh, do NOT read the last few pages first (I did not) or you’ll spoil a great deal of the book.

Real highlight of the audiobok to me was narrator Susan Marlowe’s voice acting work. We’re not talking simply reading the book here but adding real intonation and even sound effects. Really well done!

*I was given a free code to listen to this book and share my honest opinion. This is as honest as it gets.*

Brooklyn Bitters has many twist and turns and keep me wanting more. Great descriptions, made me feel I was there experiencing along with the characters. Great narrator.

Ehhh

I was given a copy of this book to review. That is the only reason I finished the story. Luckily, the narration was very good or I don't think I would have made it through. I really did not like the main character. I felt like she was so weak willed and accepted people treating her badly. I liked her sister even less. I was just really frustrated with the characters through the entire story.
