About this listen
Detective Drake Lewis is tough, focused, and unbending. He has no problem keeping his workaholic professional life completely separate from his lonely personal life. Drake has never met a man who could pull him from his job.
Until he does.
Liam Walters is a construction foreman with a painful past. He’s happy with himself and what his life has become. When his path once again crosses with Drake’s, Liam is willing to take whatever Drake can offer him.
For now.
Buried Secrets is a stand-alone male/male romance with suspenseful elements. This story has bits and pieces of opposites-attract, hurt/comfort, and redeemed by love tropes. Trigger warning: This story has the mention of childhood trauma.

Maksim Lenkov is certain he’s not a good man. His father isn’t, and since Maks is his second in command, then certainly, he’s just as evil. The list of sins is long, and there’s no getting around that. What’s messing him up is that despite all that, in the midst of life and death, his only friend tells him he’s been a blessing, law enforcement is treating him like he prevented more bloodshed than he caused, and everyone is concerned with doing right by him. Why? And how is Maks supposed to figure out who he is when everything he thought he knew is suddenly turned upside down?

Opposites attract. The outlaw biker and the accountant. Straightlaced vs straight to hell. Or heaven, depending on how you look at it. And you can look at it any way you like, doesn't mean it's true. Either way, falling for snarky Alexei Ivanov is the lightbulb moment I've been waiting for my whole damn life. Or at least since my head got turned by someone else. A man I call brother, but he's so much more than that.

Story
It is utter madness for a valet to fall in love with one’s boss. But when that boss is Ignatius Corbridge–my handsome, secretly lonely, utterly wonderful Iggy–one really can’t help it. For decades, I’ve stood by his side, fulfilling my role as his right-hand man, his mentor, his friend. I’ve pressed his suits, arranged his travel, and witnessed a thousand walks of shame as he scratched itch after itch with elite playboys around the globe. Each day, it killed me just a little bit more. So I did what needed to be done for both of us: I quit.

Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go. Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem. Isaac “Iris” Griffin. He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time. I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him. It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members. But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

Good story
The romance between the MCs seems to move very quickly but fluidly. This is my first book narrated by Christopher Solon and it won’t be the last. He did a great job portraying the emotions of the various characters and I found it easy to know who was speaking every time. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes their romance mixed with crime/mystery elements.

suspenseful
Well, this was certainly intense and edge of your seat listening!! I wasn't sure who the bad guy was, but I empathized with them. Sad that it took a major disaster to happen for the two men to see that they needed to be together like they needed air to breath. I enjoyed the suspense. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Could have had more mystery
What starts as a one night stand changes when Drake and Liam are brought together at a crime scene. Drake is not exactly in the closet but he isn’t really out either. Liam wants more. As the investigation progresses Drake gets reasons to come out. Liam having been abused as a child, has to face what he knows is right and what’s wrong when the bodies add up of the child abusers. I enjoyed the romance with the mystery. I don’t feel there is really much mystery to the story and wish there had been more. I did enjoy how the relationship developed. I think Christopher Solon did an excellent job of narrating this story and bringing these characters to life.

loved it
I loved this book. Christopher Solon really brings this story to life and makes you love the characters even more. Detective Drake Lewis is a workaholic and is pretty much married to his job. When pedophiles are bring murdered. He meets Liam Walters at a construction site where a body is found. Liam has a traumatic past and soon Drake no longer sees in black and white. But will that revelation be to late to save Liam?

I Liked It
I liked the story, the romance and the mystery. Both characters were interesting and I enjoyed following their relationship development. I liked mystery aspect as well, up until almost at the very end, but the chapter with villain's monologuing just didn't sit well with me. Narrator did a good job and made this story into good listening experience.

Buried Secrets
Buried Secrets is an enjoyable murder mystery with a side of steamy romance. This book does cover childhood trauma and may not be for everyone. Liam, a construction foreman, is just trying to do his job when a body is found at the job site. Drake is the detective assigned to the case and when he crosses paths again with Liam they decide to see what could happen. Liam and Drake have wonderful chemistry and I enjoyed them together as they try to find a killer before more bodies start stacking up.
Narrator Christopher Solon does a marvelous job. He really brought the characters to life and made the book better.

Romantic mystery
I received this audio book for free. I love a murder mystery romance. A.D. Ellis is a new author for me and I liked the story and the characters. I liked following Drakes progress with solving the murders. It was fate that brought Liam back in his life. It was so darn sweet how Drake fell in love with Liam. I kind of wish the story wasn't over yet because I am not ready to let these guys go yet. Guess I will have to see what other books I can find by this author.

Worth the read.
Trigger warnings: past child abuse and sexual assault mentioned, child witnessing a murder mentioned.
I liked the narrator. Give me gruff voices all day.
Drake and Liam both have had traumatic childhoods. Drake's resulted in becoming a dedicated workaholic as a homicide detective who likes to keep his personal life private, he rarely seems to be happy. Liam's resulted in eventually becoming as normal as most. He loves his job and he doesn't hide who he is. After a one night stand (that happened before the book starts) both are surprised to run into each other at a construction site Liam is overseeing the work too that turns into a crime scene Drake is investigating. Coffee leads to quickie and an arrangement. Liam already knows he wants more but will take what he can get from Drake, for now. When the hook ups turn into dates and become more frequent the arrangement changes into something more. But the case Drake is working where there's a serial killer that targets child molesters who keep getting around the law is actually causing problems between Drake and Liam. Wanting the relationship to work but having a difficult time seeing the others POV is starting to tear them apart. But when Liam is in danger Drake has to mix his boxes of private and personal life.
I liked the book. I kinda figured out who the killer was but the relationship drama kinda makes you question how it would end. The steamy scenes in this book, though plentiful, seem to be more or less the same. When I thought about it though that's more realistic anyways. They were still steamy scenes. The relationship drama also wasn't one of those simple misunderstandings that blew up to an unrealistic problem. It was a problem that actually made sense that a couple would actually need to work out and work through. Which is a nice change.
