About this listen

Raised in a stern, abusive Mormon household, a teenage girl starts to question her religion and struggles to find her destiny.

Her father is abusive, her mother is submissive, and her church looks the other way. Confused and angry, Pattyn Von Stratten acts out and is sent to live with an aunt on a Nevada ranch. She finds the love and acceptance she craves, with disturbing consequences.

story vs narrator

I love Ellen Hopkin's works. The narrator is missing the heart and depth of character.

Burned

I loved this book the first time I read it and still love it after reading it again. It’s a great story line and it does a great job character building. The narrator also did a good job defining which characters were speaking, I will start the sequel hoping it’s as good as this one.

Great!

This is my first audio book. I'm glad that I chose this book. I've read and own most of Ellen Hopkins book's. I find the stories are always so real and you can always find someone or something to relate to. You easily get hooked and wonder what will happen next. Ellen is a great writer. I recommend reading these at any age, I started in high school and still reading them at 24. I will continue with audio books from now on!

love the realness and the relatability

it was awesome, I'm headed over to the next in the series😉 the whole plot is endlessly relatable, young love and inexplicable loss can certainly change a person. I just wish I hadn't ruined the ending before I started it with looking the book up

An intense love story/drama

An intense love story/drama, centered on a Mormon girl who doesn’t fit, and suffers through an abusive father and no support structure. Her story pulls her in unexpected directions, and while it’s often melodramatic and heightened, it never feels unrealistic or absurd. An enjoyable book and a fast read, but not always easy - it’s intense at times, and never really becomes escapism.

story line

I LOVED crank and glass. it had a whole drug experience and how it affects everyone etc. this one was more, subtle I guess. more "normal".. not as exciting. she reminded me of the Amish which is similar to Mormon I see that, but just kinda boring. the sex, the gun. only got good at the very end. overall thought the writing style is awesome
