Publisher's summary

He's waiting for you...

Under a blanket of snow, surrounded by dark woods and a frozen sea, lies an ogre's castle. There lives a little princess, trapped in the maze of her own mind.

On a battlefield where the past meets the present stands a fairy godmother and a pirate, an old ice cream man and a knight in shining clean armor...

The clock is ticking fast, and to pierce the ogre's secrets and defeat him, Island Chaptal will have to fight to remember...and stay alive.

Can the Lions and the Roomba cats be stopped before it's too late?

How can anyone not love this book?!

Camilla Monk as read by Amy Mcfadden. Winner winner! This installment of the series is the most dynamic by far. Every new adventure for Island and March gets better and better. This series is would make great television.

Good but not as good as the first three...

The best part of the book is at the end when revelations are made. Other than that, the plot was a bit slow and the trope used (amnesia) was a bit unnatural but overall a good read

An excellent end (?)

I am not sure if this is truly the end, or rather a great beginning for a new adventure for Island and March.

Here are the questions I have when reading the reviews:
Stand Alone? No clue as I started the series with the first book "Spotless" (I highly recommend this approach)
Cliffhanger? Thank goodness no!!
Steaminess: I would disagree with Audible on this and put it on the lower end of the scale.
HEA? Yes!!!

Another terrific entry in the Spotless series!

I have been reading/listening to this series since book 1, Spotless, and I'm so glad that I discovered this series and Camilla Monk! If you are new to the series, you must start with Spotless and read the series sequentially or you will be completely lost. The opening of Butterfly in Amber was quite a surprise because it was darker than any of the previous books. I liked the change in tone but luckily as things unfold, we return to more of the humor and hijinx that we have grown accustomed to in previous books. This was definitely a satisfying conclusion to the ongoing storylines, and I was so glad to see that there is still more to come ("Apache Strike Force" is a very entertaining novella about March meeting Island's father, and then a fifth book is set for release later this year). Amy McFadden is a terrific narrator of this series -- I can't imagine anyone else voicing Island or March. I'm so glad that she's been able to give life to all of these stories, and I hope that she's on board for book 5! If you've been enjoying the Spotless series, I wholeheartedly recommend adding "Butterfly in Amber" to your book collection!

OMG

Nothing is as it seems. Just when you think you have the storyline figure out, it throws you for a loop again. It's rare that a book touches my emotions as much as this one did. It ripped my heart to shreds but put it back together again in the end. Definitely a five-star read!

something is missing - still great!

Is it the snappy dialogue, the exasperated sighs from March, or the brotherhood vicious that adds spice, but something is missing. I really wish March would take ignore Island when she begs him not to kill someone! Every time that happens, it comes back to bite March in the ass.

Even missing a few ingredients to make this a superb story, when all the players were in play, it was still entertaining and made my toes curl. There was LOTS of action and a few laughs. Island is still a virgin, which means a great comedy scene when penetration was near.

March is showing more of a sensitive side. That is a disappointment for me. In the first few books he was funny. Remember in the first book when he had her tied on the bed?
It was incredulous that No one in the previous story died. Everyone survived a boat sinking! Now people died and the brotherhood is no more. I am all for a happy ever after but Island and March must do the espionage thing for a great story.

Oh amnesia is a cop out.

I love this Series!

This Series has captivated me I don't want it to end! The constant action was described it so vividly. The characters were endearing. The light romance was just perfect The main characters cameras inner dialogue was hilarious as was much of the other dialogue. The quirkiness gave balance to the serious emotions

Oooh! So different but so good.

I guess you might be able to listen to these books on their own, but I don't think so - and I'm also thinking you'd be missing a lot of references that make the writing particularly good. So, if you're just finding this, go back to Spotless.

After listening, I’m upping to 5 stars. I think that after I read Butterfly in Amber two years ago I had it as 4 stars because this had such a different “tone” to it than the other books. I was probably ticked at Camilla Monk that it wasn’t as funny. The fact is - even 90% super serious and a lot darker than the others, it’s still a fantastic and engaging read/listen. There is a lot of mystery/action/suspense as well as PLOT TWIST! that I really didn't see coming.

And I will listen again. And again. And that’s what makes books 5 stars for me.

Also, I *will* to find a way to work the phrase “follicular nirvana” into every day conversation. You’ve been warned.

Amy McFadden was so creepy for the first 30% of this. That’s a compliment, I swear. I seriously felt like I was confused and coming out of a coma. Again, I promise these are actually accolades of her talent... because sheesh was the first part of this book dark and scary and I was truly panicked with Island. McFadden's voices continue to be consistent and unique even as the cast exponentially expands - this is absolutely binge-worthy.

I'm off to listen to Apache Strike Force as I (not really patiently) wait for Island Chaptal and The Ancient Aliens' Treasure. It's live now in book/ebook - but like I said on Twitter, I feel like I'm "cheating" on Amy McFadden by reading instead of listening. She says we have an open relationship - but I'm gonna stay faithful. In this instance.
