Publisher's summary

Carter Sullivan, foster brother in the famous Campbell family, never had it easy. He was an abused kid, tortured by dealers, in and out of juvenile detention until he was sent to the Circle C Ranch to be fostered.

Life got better, but when Carter was 18, his ex-girlfriend pushed his baby daughter into his arms and took off, never to be seen again. Carter raised his daughter, Faith, on his own, with the help of the four wild Campbell brothers and his foster mom, the first person who ever believed in him.

Grace Malory has always had a crush on Carter, the dark and damaged man who never quite fit in with the close community of Riverbend, Texas. When Carter's foster mom needs help running the domestic side of the ranch, Grace is ready to help out with all the cooking for the brothers and their new families.

Carter's troubles rise again in the form of his ex-girlfriend, who returns to try to claim custody of Faith. Carter's greatest fear is losing his daughter, and he turns to Grace to help him in a desperate deception to keep Faith with him forever.

Best Yet in Series

I loved Carter and Grace's story. The Bad Boys always seem to have been hurt the most and can't get past it without the Good Girls. Throw in a special child and a good plot and you can't miss!

Wish There Had Been More

So far, this is my favorite of the Riding Hard series. I listened to the Audiobook of Carter. I thought the narration was good. The characters were easily distinguishable.

I was glad that Carter and Grace finally ended up together. I liked them together. I liked that Carter started to thaw out with Grace. I thought the romantic overtures were mild, but the physical parts were steamy. I wish there had been more written about their relationship growing and developing.

I enjoyed reading about Carter's past and how he had changed while living with the Campbell's. I would not have minded at all if the book had been longer to explain a few things with more detail. I also would have appreciated an epilogue to see what life was like for Carter and Grace after the HEA. I wondered what happened with Lizzie after the incident with Josh was resolved.

The end was a bit abrupt, and I was a little disappointed. I did enjoy the book, but I admit that I wanted more of Grace and Carter. I will be moving on to the next book in the series. I'm not sure if it is Tyler's, Ross', or Kyle. My guess is Ray will get a book too.
