About this listen

Tahoma - the Native tribal name for Mt. Rainier - wakes up after a devastating 9.0 earthquake shatters the Pacific Northwest. Entire counties are covered in mud, rock, and earth. Landslides and tsunamis add to the annihilation. Power and internet are knocked out to the entire American West. Hundreds of thousands die on the first day of the New World.

Slaughter County shooting-range manager Phil Walker knows things will never be the same. The former Marine is no stranger to tragedy, having lost his wife to cancer and his leg to a firefight. Phil establishes a secure camp for his family and friends. Meanwhile, Phil’s son, Crane, and Captain Marie Darnell fight to stop a disaster at a nearby shipyard. The catastrophe has unleashed a nuclear nightmare inside a submarine and threatened to sink an aircraft carrier permanently. Is it too late, as the worst of humanity surfaces in a rapidly deteriorating world? Will the American Spirit be enough as Phil and his community reel from new and dangerous threats?

Actually pretty good...

Not an action pact testosterone driven fast moving kinda story, but a well measured steady paced story that unfolds gradually. This story is chocked full of information and how to ideas wrapped within a natural disaster scenario. It’s not boring in the least but reads as relatable realistic events.
So it’s not a Zombie Apocalyptic or engineered threat fiction. This clearly lays out a plausible natural disaster and how people in their own ways come to cope or die trying.
I really did enjoy this book. It’s a good first book to this series. I look forward to the next books.

A foreboding future history

I've long been interested in the Cascadia subduction fault and what things may look after it goes off and Cascadia Fallen is a reasonable, yet foreboding future history of the event.

Pretty good

Retired vet, with a firing range, takes in friends and family during a two fold apocalyptic event in Washington state. Story segues to characters in different locations within the state all trying to make it toward MC. I didn’t like the segue to the dry dock on the navy base or the characters there with the exception of the MC’s son. Skipped thru that as it was too much in detail about what could happen to ships and nuclear subs during this sort of event.

Gets you Thinking!

Very well written book! I love apocalyptic books and this one didn't disappoint.  You have so many different end of times stories, zombies,  plague,  war,  terrorist and aliens.  This one is all to scary with events that really could happen.  With very well developed characters and story line I highly recommended this book to anyone who likes suspenseful end of time stories!

Narrator has too deep of a voice

Good book, good story. Narrator cadence is ok. The book was mixed with too loud of low frequencies.

Great story

Overall it was a great story! Real issues that a normal person might experience. Not every good guy wins and not everyone lives.
