Publisher's summary

When a dead scuba diver is discovered during their road trip vacation to Monterey, CA, Zack, Jillian, and the two corgis, Sherlock and Watson, become embroiled in a race to discover what the diver had been doing when he died. Compounding their investigation is the presence of a group of playful otters, who just so happen to be using what appears to be gold coins as tools to open shellfish. Are the two events related? Could the deceased diver have located a sunken treasure ship off the coast of Monterey?

What’s up with Harry????

I loved this book ! I loved the Corgi’s interaction with the otters. As a tri colored female Pembroke owner this series especially touches my heart . I do want to know why Harry suddenly sounds like Shaggy in Scooby Doo??? I don’t remember him saying Bro in the other books but I wish I had counted the Bro’s in this book. That was my only complaint.

Sherlock and Watson take their humans on a romantic getaway, but it becomes less romancy and more oops theres a body.... Sherlock and Watson are on the case and it involves sunken treasure, breaking and entering, otters, and the aquarium! Loved it! Wonderful

If you have not read this series and you enjoy dogs, cozy mysteries, and a good laugh then you really should give it a try. I love this series so much for letting me just escape into a fun different world. This book takes place in Monterey California a place not far from home for me and a place I love to escape to. I don't want to give anything away but this might be my favorite book yet in this series. Bob Johnson is the narrator of this series and his wonderful voice is perfect for the series. I so look forward to hearing more of these stories. I will say that the series does follow along with a storyline but if you were just coming to the series you would not be lost.

swimming with Corgi

love the book loved all the characters I like the story between the corgis and the otters also how fast the corgis can solve all the puzzles. it's a delight to listen to these books about the corgis and the life in Pomme Valley. it does take a little while to get used to the narration style and voices of the characters that the narrator has.

Very Cute

I received this book for free. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is the 8th book in the Corgi Case files and is a standalone book. There are events which occurred in the other books in the series and the author does provide quick summaries, so the referencing of these events does not detract from the current story. So, while you can pick up this series with this book, as the mystery is completely a standalone story, the characters' lives have evolved over the course of the series.

Overall, I like the stories, the humor, the characters and, of course, the corgis. It's light and cute. I did like the mystery and the manner of death was original. Lots of fun facts about otters. Bob Johnson, as the narrator, does a very nice job.

A raft of otters

amateur-sleuth, dogs, law-enforcement, family, friendship, relationships, romantic, theft, murder, cozy-mystery, situational-humor, verbal-humor*****

If you've never met these two fun and furry crime solvers (Mr Sherlock and Ms Watson) and their widowed humans, you're missing a lot of fun! Zack's girlfriend Jillian, the two dogs, and a couple of friends are off on a vacation to Monterey, California just to get away. They do have a good time, but there's a body, a coin theft, a theft at the aquarium, and more. All of the characters certainly are, and the sleuthing is well done. Loved it! Easily a stand alone, but why?.
Bob Johnson aces the narration with just the right touch that highlights the humor by downplaying the guffaws.
I won this audio in a giveaway.

4 and a half

The Case of the Ostentatious Otters is a fun and humorous cozy mystery. I enjoyed the way the Zack and Jillian interacted with each other and the dogs. The mystery is well written with enough twists and turns to keep the listener interested but not so much that the story is complex. This is a light and enjoyable cozy mystery with humor. Bob Johnson really brings the story to life. He's been the narrator for all of the books in this series and he seems to really enjoy these characters and stories. I'm very happy that he allowed me to listen to this book for free in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

A Bunch of Otter Pirates!

Another great novel in the series. This time, they are on vacation, and they can't help but stumble upon a case to solve. Sherlock and Watson can't go anywhere without solving crime! And they're famous. The local police department had heard of the dogs and wanted their help. And those darn Otters, they're all just a bunch of pirates!

Looking forward to the next book in the series.
The audio narration was excellent as always!
