Publisher's summary

Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground - and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, high-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke. But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s a guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases. Her partner, Peabody, is practically giddy over rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty. Eve, on the other hand, is more likely to roll her eyes than have stars in them. But she has to admit it’s a little spooky seeing the actress playing her, who looks almost like her long-lost twin. Not as unsettling, though, as seeing K. T. Harris, the actress who plays Peabody - drowned in the lap pool on the roof of the director’s luxury building. Talented but rude, and widely disliked, K.T. had made an embarrassing scene during dinner. She clearly liked being the center of attention. Now she’s at the center of a crime scene - and Eve is more than ready to get out of her high heels and strap on her holster, to step into the role she was born to play: cop.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Go Peabody!! Another great one!

What made the experience of listening to Celebrity in Death the most enjoyable?

Susan Ericksen is so talented, and JD Robb is magic! Between the two of them, I loved all of it, and especially enjoyed Peabody's story, her strengths and her humor. Of course Eve and Rouke, but Peabody was a stand out in this one!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Celebrity in Death?

somewhat of a SPOILER but Peabody's interview of the

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

You know who is who with out of the writer telling you so, Susan give each person their own personality!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Peabody chat with Eve about her trip to Dallas and how she handled it.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy this series so much!! I hope that Nora, umm, I mean JD Robb doesn't stop writing them, and that Susan will always be the Narrator, can't imagine ANYONE else doing them!

A Nice Break

Would you listen to Celebrity in Death again? Why?

Yes, I've already listened to it several times. I love Susan Ericksen as a narrator and Peabody cracks me up in this book.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. D. Robb? Why or why not?

I read all the books. I love the characters, even if the plots are formulaic.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've bought books solely because she narrates them. I have to say, I love her renditions of the In Death books better than anything else.

a good 1st Robb

I've only listened to three Nora Roberts books and I have to admit I've been surprised how much I liked them. In researching the author I came to learn she has written over 200 books, that's a lot. Plus, she writes under the pseudonym, JD Robb, a futuristic crime series set circa 2060. Soon after I realized JD is Nora, up comes this book on audible rated 4.5 on the 5.0 scale and based on the 1541 ratings, a lot of people liked this book a lot. Were the reviewers just Roberts/Robb afficionados that would like anything the author puts out or did this book desrve the rating on its own. So, I bit and decided to give it a try. Being set in the future was a small part of the book and it could've been written in present day time and not have an effect on it. Lt Eve Dallas is the detective at the center of the story. Her husband, Roark, and assistant detective, Peabody, also play roles. They have to solve a murder involving a movie crew filiming a book based on Eve's life. Was this the greatest crime thriller ever written? No. Buy it was creative and entertaining. This book is #34 in what is now a series with 38 books so far. I don't know that i'm going back to #1 and starting there but I might just go on to #35 and go forward. I do see they are all just as highly rated.

Another Eve Dallas.

I love listening to Susan Ericksen read this series. Each character is distinct, accents are dead on, and I love the way she reads lines. It's not hard to get lost in the story. I find myself spending more time exercising or cleaning or working on projects just so I can spend more time with the characters. The "In Death" books are books I listen to again and again just because Ms. Ericksen has created characters that feel like old friends. I like having them come to visit.
