Who can you trust?!?!

Second installment in the Timekeeper series! Ladies and Gents this was not a read I could do and multitask! There was more of a suspense/mystery vibe with this book with more twists and turns that had me asking myself, “Who can we even trust anymore?!?!”

I really liked the peek into the past and learning more about how the towers came to be. Though, I must warn you, if you are as invested in these characters as I am, it gave me some very unpleasant feelings.

As for the romantic aspect, there wasn’t much. In the beginning there was a scene that had heavily implied...*eyebrow waggle* some mature intimacy between Danny and Colton. However, as the story progresses and they are separated they still share a bond but the main focus is in the mission.

That being said.... off to book three!!!

LOVE this series!

The second book in the series is so fun, adventurous, suspenseful, and emotional. I’m engulfed in the world and the characters and can’t stop listening! The narrator for such a great job of giving voice and emotion to the characters. I was upset when it was finished. On to the next book Firestarter! Enjoy!

Kind of sloppy.

I liked book one and was keen to listen to book 2, but it kinda went wonky and left me confused.

The narrator went from clearly annunciating the name 'Colton' to some lazy, rushed sounding 'Curldon'.
While many of the characters are obviously NOT British, the narrator fails to distinguish these characters by giving them all British accents, which is pretty one dimensional.

I was initially happy that I'd get to read a new steampunk novel and this one started out great. And then there was inflated melodrama. And then there were a series of awesomely bad decisions that disappointed my esteem of these characters .
Around chapter 27/28 this started sounding like an episode from a B-grade TV series. The kind that's good for after dinner brain numbing. The kind that's full of plot holes that you hope will be resolved in the next episode.
I don't know if I'll stay tuned for that one.

I loved:
1. The rich & diverse set of characters & settings
2. Colton, being so brave!
3. “Time shivered”
4. Getting answers in book 2! (Like for real why can’t this happen more often)
5. Everything go buy this book right now

Awesome story...unfinished ending

I enjoyed this story even more than the 1st...however the ending was too much of a cliffhanger. Don't read the 2nd book unless you're committed to reading the 3rd! I'm definitely going to read the last book now.

Nail biting

Got to say this is an excellent second installment of this trilogy. Tara definitely gets you riled up and Gary's narration pulls you in and helps you experience the story.

India is handled awkwardly

The descriptions of India read like a bad tour guide listing off basic trivia of the area for tourists. References to British colonial rule without acknowledging its wrongness also feel really awkward. It would have been easier to use a neutral setting if those details aren't necessary for the story.

Pretty good otherwise. Reader is good.
