About this listen

Logan Ragsdale and his younger sister, Ariana, have been marked, chosen to be unwilling participants in a war between angels and demons.

Logan can sense something's not quite right. Like an unexpected chill on a summer's day, he can feel the unseen closing in. He's had these feelings before, and each time, someone close to him died. He's afraid this time it might just be Ariana.

Logan's fears are soon confirmed when he discovers their new friends aren't human, but rather representatives from Heaven and Hell sent to Earth to ensure he and Ariana accept their roles in an ancient prophecy. Demons want Logan to open the gates of Hell. Ariana has the power to stop them, but if she chooses to side with Heaven to spare the lives of thousands of innocent people, she'll damn her brother for eternity.

Together, they must derail the biblical event if they hope to save themselves and the future of mankind...but what price are they willing to pay to keep the other safe?

Great book

I really enjoyed this book. It is a really good young adult novel. It has a great plot and story line. The reader is taken on a journey with the main characters, Adrian and logan. As they discover what is going on in their lives, so does the reader. There is a lot of unexpected twists and turns. There is also some really good action scenes. The author does an excellent job describing these events.

My only complaint is that I am not sure the narrator is right for this book. She does the female voices ok but the male voices are just done in a lower pitch. This makes them always sound bored and like they don't have any emotion. In a book where it switches from Adrians point of view to Logan's point of view, this can sometimes get confusing. But usually, before they switch pov, they tell you who it is. However, I was able to get past this and really enjoy the story.

I was given this book for free at my request in return for my unbiased review.

Blessed vs Fallen angels

A brother and sister with mind controlling powers find themselves pawns of a war between the blessed “good” angels and the fallen “bad” angels. Part of a prophecy they don’t want anything to do with. Started a little slow but really improved and got really good.

Good vs Evil with a twist

I immediately liked the 2 main characters in Challenging Destiny; and the pre-narrative helped direct the story. Good way to introduce the subject line.

Young adult listeners will probably enjoy the narrator. I was a little irritated by the lilting voice given to one of the females; but it really bothered me when she mispronounced Tucson, AZ twice (unless the author was making up another city name). Although it didn’t bother me enough to stop listening!

The ending proved to be suspenseful. I was really surprised by some of the dark things happening near the end. Definitely a plus. I can see a sequel in the future! Overall, a really good book and I would certainly listen to a sequel.

A pretty good high school angel/demon story

This story was interesting and filled with intrigue. Although there were some minor plot holes, you ultimately didn’t know how it was going to pan out in the end. Challenging Destiny had well-rounded characters that were developed and believable.

I liked the story a lot. Give it a listen if you’re into angels.

Narration killed the potential of this story

Narrator: differentiations are limited, mispronounces several words/names (foliage, oncoming, Bolognese, Tucson)
Language: jack-ass, shit, damn, ass
Violence: it’s a holy war novel—not graphic though
Sexual content: heavy kissing and the mention of a minor character engaging in sex.
Parents: lots of teenage angst, probably better for those over 16 with a solid moral compass

The story was interesting, lots of twists you don’t see coming, the narration just murdered it though with everyone sounding essentially the exact same. The characters aren’t particularly developed (my other beef) but they are teenagers so maybe that’s why.
