Return to Hidden Mountain....
Lorelei Stewart has always accepted her role as the town tramp's daughter and has earned her fast and loose reputation. She's a hard woman who pays her way and asks for nothing, but times change. Pregnant and overburdened with responsibility, she's given up on men and has a plan to provide her baby with what she never had as a child; a decent home and a loving mother. The old bootlegger, Rollie Roper, needs a caretaker and has room for Lorelei and her coming child; a fair exchange.
Everything's almost perfect until Rollie's long lost nephew, Cob Thornton, turns up with money and plans of his own and those plans don't include the woman living in his house, yet something about Lorelei fascinates him. He begins to see past the cold armor she wears to protect herself from pain and finds a vulnerable and loving woman within. Now all he has to do, with a little help from old and new friends, is convince the pessimistic Lorelei that sometimes, changing times can be a blessing in disguise.

This has been an easy to read and interesting book and I had one of those "oh no, it's finished" experiences when it ended. That doesn't happen too often!

This is a good novel. I see there is another book in the series that started it. I want to see where things all began.

The story of Lorelei and Cob seemed like a continuous push and pull until Cob was able to convince Lorelei that he's not there to take what he can get and move on. I loved the interaction between the two very strong personalities as well as the attraction and sensual tension surrounding them. The integrity of the characters remained throughout the book and that was great to see even as they gave in to one another.
Leah Frederick did a great job pulling the characters off of the pages and giving them voices that I could relate to. I think she did a stellar job.

What did you like best about this story?
I really like the plot. You can't let things in the past hinder the future. It is probably the hardest thing especially if we believe we deserve it. A wonderful story on learning how to believe we are worthy of the good things in life. Love comes in all shapes and from different places!Changing Times

What made the experience of listening to Changing Times the most enjoyable?
The push and pull between Lorelei and Cob. The banter, love and mutual respect between Lorelei & old Rollie Roper. The constant misunderstanding could drive someone crazy, but to me it added so many dimensions: the town and disbelief about Lorelei, the town and its belief about Rollie, the town and its belief about Cob. Everyone has an opinion about whether Lorelei is a pregnant tramp, like her mother? Or why Cob would be interested in her? Wouldn't he be grateful to have a woman like Lorelei. There is also the speculation about Lorelei pregnancy. Who is the child's father, why would anyone want to hang around with that baggage, as Lorelei herself doesn't understand!
It is absolutely a delight to listen to, in part because of the narration by Leah Frederick. What a handful of characters to navigate and she does it with ease.
Anyone who would like the feel of hometown USA, the rumor mills as well as all of the good things like country picnics, church on Sunday the old ladies gossiping – the men even more so; will enjoy this smart, dramatic, and a bit of fun!
It has a throw back feel of the 1950's, complete with diner that seems to be the heartbeat of the town - with the complications and responsibilities of now & then.
