About this listen

The Real Housewives of New York City star, fashion-industry pioneer, entrepreneur, and mom Leah McSweeney breaks through the chaos of battling addiction, igniting the streetwear world, and disrupting reality television—all while being unapologetically, unrelentingly herself.

If there’s one thing Leah McSweeney knows for sure, it’s that life never quite gives you what you expect. Her road to success as an entrepreneur and Real Housewives breakout star has been paved with unexpected chances, soul-crushing challenges, and, for too long, chaos.

Now Leah shares her unique philosophy of Chaos Theory and how key moments in our lives can lead us to paths we never imagined. With unparalleled grit, resilience, and a take-no-prisoners attitude, Leah shares her story of finding her way by pushing back against the conventions of society, against the status quo of the fashion industry, and against the limitations of her own self-worth to create a wild, unconventional, and beautiful life.

From her years spent partying in the drug-fueled New York City club scene to getting sober, having a baby, and investing the settlement money from an NYPD assault to launch her business--Leah has learned to throw a punch and keep her fists up. In Chaos Theory, her raw, candid storytelling offers inspiration and insight for embracing life’s unexpected turns and finding meaning in the chaos.

Leah McSweeny is known for being straightforward and honest. So I expected more (hopefully juicy) details from this book. Often, it felt like she glossed over serious events without providing any detail. Like the bad relationship that lead her to start drinking again. There was zero mention of the $10 million lawsuit brought (then dropped) by Supreme over her shirt. It seemed like she sprinkled in enough details to feel she had been honest in the book.

I think of memoirs like Andre Leon Talley or Angie Dickinson, who dropped major morsels throughout. While I appreciated her thoughts on modern feminism, sexuality, and being a woman business owner, the book left me kinda meh.

I expected more

I had preordered Chaos Theory but I’m such a Leah fan I had to listen to the audio book when I found out she was reading. It was great to hear her story with her own inflection and emotion. I also get horrible motion sickness so reading while traveling is never the move, I’m officially converted to audio books.

Happy I ended up listening to the audio book

Loved Leah the first minute she appeared on RHONY! When I heard she’s writing a book I was ecstatic. The book is amazing, I love how open she is about her journey and struggles. Her story confirms no matter how difficult of a road you travel you can change your destination. Hope it’s not her last book!

I’m so in love with Leah McSweeney and she is such an inspiration to me. She is such a wonderful human being and I appreciate her for being so honest and real about her life and beliefs. I can relate to a lot of her thoughts process and sassiness too

Smart Funny and Beautifully Honest

Honestly I only need a little bit about Married to the Mob before RHONY added Leah to the lineup, but this book was an amazing deep dive into the powerhouse that Leah McSweeney really is. I loved every part of this, and am so proud to be a fan of her following this!

Leah MOB for life!

Her story is entertaining and jaw dropping to listen to. As a fan of hers from RHONY it just made me like and respect her more. Covers topics everyone should give thought to.

Raw, honest and introspective

Great book, but there were seemingly a lot of stories that could have been elaborated on!

Worth a listen!

For someone who has never walked in the shoes of chaos, this book was incredibly insightful. The vulnerability and self awareness used to truly understand herself was second to none. Thank you for teaching me so much, and I am beyond glad that you are incredibly proud of yourself! You are a survivor, a fighter, good enough, worthy of all! Congratulations! Karen Millon

Raw, Real, Insightful

It’s nice to hear Leah’s story and very interesting. The last few chapters are kind of disjointed though, and she discusses her thoughts on issues that are admirable, but feel out of place in this book. Towards the end, her voice kind of grated on my nerves, because it sounds whiny and self-absorbed.

Great until the last chapters
