About this listen

When Matt Johansson, a young New York actor, auditions for Chapel of Ease, an off-Broadway musical, he is instantly charmed by Ray Parrish, the show's writer and composer. As their friendship deepens, Matt learns that Ray's people call themselves the Tufa and that the musical is based on the history of his isolated hometown. But there is one question in the show's script that Ray refuses to answer: What is buried in the ruins of the Chapel of Ease?

As opening night approaches, strange things begin to happen. A dreadlocked girl follows and spies on Ray. At the press preview, a strange Tufa woman warns him to stop the show. Then, as the rave reviews arrive, Ray dies in his sleep.

Matt and the cast are distraught, but there's no question of shutting down, and the run quickly sells out. Matt volunteers to take Ray's ashes back to Needsville, where he hopes to understand more about the play and uncover the secret that Ray took to his grave.

Matt's journey into the haunting Appalachian mountains of Cloud County sets him on a dangerous path, where some secrets deserve to stay buried.

Alex Bledsoe continues to impress.

Great addition to the Tufa series, especially for a musical theater geek. Stefan Rudnicki is masterful, as usual.

Thank you Alex Bledsoe - Another Gift of Tufa

Yes, this is a Series with four editions so far. No, you do not have to read the previous to enjoy the one you are reading. The mysterious appalachian music, heritage and custom draws you in with every word.
The Tufa Novels
The Hum and the Shiver: Book 1
Wisp of a Thing: Book 2
Long Black Curl: Book 3
Chapel of Ease: Book 4
There are also four short stories.
The audible narrator's dark chocolate voice brings it all to life. Stefan Rudniki could read anything and add character and color.

Really enjoyed the series, each book stands alone or can be listened to as a single book.

Another excellent Bledsoe listen

When I get a Bledsoe story on audible, I always know it's good. I wish the narrator's voice wasn't so deep, but he did a great job with this book in particular.

This book was my delightful introduction to Alex Bledsoe

I wouldn’t ordinarily have been drawn to this title or genre but I am so happy I gave it a go. I look forward with great anticipation to the rest of this interesting and imaginative series.

Mystery never pays out

I am a fan of this series, but this is the first book that sort of didn't deliver. Maybe because it's set outside of Needsville, or maybe because I enjoy the strong female lead characters more. The ending was also not satisfying... at all.

Humorous

This one had a lot more humor and one liners in it than other Tufa books

Finally a little less agony

Its a good series. Personally its a bit depressing when evil has so much power. It was really nice to have some winning goin on.
