Publisher's summary
Piper Anderson has been given a fresh start in the picturesque town of Edenville, North Carolina. But her plans of settling into a normal life are derailed when she witnesses a prominent judge in her community committing a violent assault. Running from her own past and fueled by a passion to make the judge answer for his crimes, Piper is forced to decide if she'll play by the rules or achieve justice in her own way.
Complicating things further, Piper finds herself fighting a powerful attraction to rookie cop, Bobby Wright. Although she's increasingly enamored with Bobby, his staunch belief in the justice system is in stark contrast to her own. She may not share his opinions about the effectiveness of the law, but she certainly can't deny how safe she feels when she's in his arms or how every kiss leaves her desperate for more.
For Piper, the idea of finally living an ordinary life with a man to love is tempting. However, fate keeps placing the judge, quite literally, in her path. Will she decide the only way to win is to be as wicked as the judge, but with righteous intentions? And more importantly, will Bobby choose to let her go, or follow her as she crosses the line and takes justice into her own hands?

So So
I was given a free credit to review this audiobook. I will have to say I didn’t hate this book but there were parts that didn’t make me love it either. The voice in some parts sounded like a computer. The description sometimes was just to much in the story. But overall I enjoyed it and found myself wanting to read or listen to the next book in the series.

Book 1 in a fighting for justice story
Piper Anderson, a recently relocated newcomer, accidentally witnesses an acclaimed public figure commit an assault on a underage girl and decides taking the matter in her own hands will be the only way to have justice served. Having been disillusioned during her second year of criminal justice classes, Piper is wary of the entire court system and most people in general. She is befriended by a wonderful older character, Betty, who gives her friendship and the warm caring she has never had before. Betty, in turn, introduces her to the rest of the key players.
The cast of characters definitely enhances this story:
Bobby, a rookie cop, will melt your hearts: "I want to hold you until I can't figure out where I end and you begin."
Michael, a prosecuting attorney, is sweet on Piper and always there for her to lean on: "He had done exactly what she needed, been there for her without needing to be everything to her."
Betty and her daughter Jules are the epitome of southern hospitality, right down to the wonderful porch swing and endearing phrases: "Trying to get her to understand is like trying to nail jelly to a tree."
And finally, Piper, a troubled loner hiding from her past, will tear at your hearts when the truth is known: "There had to be a place in this world for my idea of justice, and if there wasn't I was damn sure going to do everything I could to make room for it."
Robin Rowan's narration definitely brings each character to life.
This is the first in a series and the relationship between Bobby and Piper promises to be developed throughout the series. The more I learned about Piper's past, the more I was fighting for her to get the justice she was looking for. There were parts of the book that slowed down my pace, but by the end, I wanted to move on to the second book - now just waiting for the audiobook do to so.

MUST LISTEN
Where does Chasing Justice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Excellent.
What other book might you compare Chasing Justice to and why?
No comparison. Chasing Justice has it all - romance, intrigue, suspense, mystery, drama, humor - well rounded book - you really can't ask for much more!
What about Robin Rowan’s performance did you like?
You can hear the drama, the suspense, urgency in her tone.Yet when it is called for you hear the compassion and care.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and I did listen in one sitting.
I had already read the book. I thought I was going to give this a quick listen. But listening to the audio book brings on a whole new dimension. Things I had read, merely glanced over were enhanced with the listening of this audio
Any additional comments?
Love this series, addition of audio makes it all the more better! Thoroughly enjoyed reading and listening.

Very good, however a cliffhanger
Having enjoyed Ms. Stewart's work in the past I was sure this would be an enjoyable read as well.
I purchased this book and audio some time.ago. At that time I did not purchase further books in this series. I don't recall being warned it was a cliffhanger. Had I known I either would have waited and purchased further books in this series OR, more likely would have written this series off my wanted list. Cliffhangers are rude. (I'd best not get on my soapbox about books which do not have a reasonable and complete beginning, middle, and ending. Each book - regardless of topic - should be able to stand alone.) Anyway, I enjoyed the story and how it was told, I was just very disappointed to not be able to have a satisfactory ending.

Great story, great narrator
Would you listen to Chasing Justice again? Why?
I read his book before listening to the audio book. I loved the book and loved the audiobook version as well. I had my own thoughts in my head for how the story flowed but loved the way the narrator took it to the next level in my head. Looking forward to more Piper Anderson Series books being in audiobook format.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I could listen to the narrators version of Betty over and over. She captured that character perfectly.
Have you listened to any of Robin Rowan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no, this was my first
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes starting over doesn't always mean easy
