About this listen

Trinity Morris, cofounder of You're Not Alone, has a domestic violence past that still haunts her 10 years later. She is devoted to helping victims find freedom and to sharing information on how to help them through their emotional and violent trials.

While Trinity is presenting at a seminar, she comes across Gavin, a police officer who knows her past all too well. It's been 10 years since he last saw her, but the moment Gavin's eyes land on her, he's intent on getting to know the woman who has haunted his dreams all these years.

Can Gavin break through the wall that Trinity has built around herself, or will the present and the past collide and take her away from him again?

Amazing book. Loved listening to the book. Domestic violence and abuse is very real and very wrong. As a daughter of a retired Law Enforcement Officer who had always told me that the cases of domestic violence is dangerous to all involved and had always hated when men and women commit domestic violence and was worried about the victims of domestic violence and always tried to get the help that they needed.

This is the 4th novel by Stacy Eaton I've enjoyed and the 2nd one on Audio. Each one has been amazing. I have a really hard time stopping until I've finished the whole story. I especially love the audios because I can close my eyes and enter the story as it is read. "You're Not Alone" had me from the first chapter. I felt the fear that was described as though it was my own fear. I felt the difficulty in trusting. I saw each scene as though I was right there. She is my favorite author I've ever read; I just love the way she writes in the first person, so that you understand the emotions each person feels. I couldn't wait for the story to end, and then I cried because it ended and I wanted even more to stay in the story.

If you could sum up You're Not Alone in three words, what would they be?

Very intense book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Trinity was my favorite character because she showed such inner strength.

What about Maria Marquis’s performance did you like?

Her smooth voice and inflection fit the story so well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I did not want to take a break in listening.

Any additional comments?

After experiencing domestic violence first hand, Trinity and her friend Brooke form a non-profit organization named You're Not Alone. Part of Trinity's position includes putting on seminars and this is still very difficult for her because it brings up bad memories. I found the seminar scenes very attention grabbing and they added a lot to the story. At one of the seminars, Trinity sees a man who looks very familiar to her and he brings back a painful time in her life. Meanwhile, she is back to work at the non-profit when she receives word that there has been considerable water damage to one of the apartments they fund and manage. Gavin who has just stopped in offers the help from himself and a contractor friend. Gavin is a police officer that was in attendance at one of her seminars. Gavin is very careful not to do anything Trinity may perceive as threatening or pressure her in any way. Can he be the one to help her love and trust again? This book really sheds light on how it must be to be a victim of domestic violence and how difficult it must be to recover and try to live a normal life again. A very powerful book that will hold your attention and be hard to put down.

This was a really good view into domestic violence and how it affects those abused. This took a very positive approach and helped highlight a couple that both survived their own trauma and came out the other side still positive and willing to accept another person in to their life an allow love again. We often don't understand what a person of domestic violence goes through or thinks and this story put you right in an abused persons head space. Maria Marquis had the perfect voice for this h and did an excellent job of pulling in the h's emotions and struggles with herself and with trust. Great narration and story

This was an intense and emotional story. It keeps you captivated yet the subject is difficult. I enjoyed listening to this narrator as the story weaved from past to present in order for the reader to get the full understanding of what happened and how it still affects a person years later. I definitely recommend this book.

A great book!

I don't typically read books based on domestic violence, but this book stayed fairly positive throughout the storyline. I enjoyed hearing how Trinity managed to spin something awful happening to her into such a strong and encouraging story. Gavin's character was written as such a kind, understanding, and sweet man, I think anybody could fall in love with him! This was a good read, especially for anybody needing to read something positive.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

A great narrator with depth. The story was awesome and dealt with a subject many do not want to address in a very tasteful way. I loved hearing about Trinity's battle to live again and her seminars.
