Annie is six years old. Something bad lives in her dreams, and now it’s trying to get out.

A very scary story that will haunt you long after you listen to its hysterical last line.

Tender and terrifying

This is a scary story to read… and the narrator made it even more scary! Another zinger from master writer David Gerrold!

A multilayered tale of grief and horror

Penz serves the text well here, highlighting the narrator’s humanity and care for his daughter, who’s experiencing an attack from something nightmarish yet unseen. However, it’s as much about them coming to terms with loss as anything supernatural…and about resolution coming on the heels of trauma.

It’ll bother some, I think, that the story functionally ends on a cliffhanger. Certainly, the story could continue for a considerable distance…but why? The last line makes it clear what comes next. We don’t need to have our hands held and be walked through it at length, nor is an explanation needed for whatever’s going this. Imagination serves.

Wonderful, scary story

The author did an amazing job writing the atmosphere and characters. I absolutely love Annie and Chester. I also love it through Chesters point of view. The narrator was also amazing for this story and played his role very well. Definitely recommend if you like scary books.
