Publisher's summary

Stephen King's ultimate evil vehicle of terror, Christine: the frightening story of a nerdy teenager who falls in love with his vintage Plymouth Fury. It was love at first sight, but this car is no lady.

Evil is alive in Libertyville. It inhabits a custom-painted red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine and young Arnold Cunningham, who buys it. Along with Arnold's girlfriend, Leigh Cabot, Dennis Guilder attempts to find out the real truth behind Christine and finds more than he bargained for: From murder to suicide, there's a peculiar feeling that surrounds Christine - she gets revenge on anyone standing in her path. Can Dennis save Arnold from the wrath of Christine?

This number-one national best seller is "Vintage Stephen King...breathtaking...awesome. Carries such momentum the listener must force himself to slow down" (The New York Times Book Review).

Excellent narrator brings the story to life

Obviously a great story by Stephen King but the narrator really brings this story to life. Tone of voice, nuances, everything to bring the teenagers involved to life.

So relieved

What did you love best about Christine?

Crazy guy and possessive car. So much more than the movie.

What other book might you compare Christine to and why?

Maybe Burnt Offerings, the house kills to rejuvenate itself.

What does Holter Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The last conflict between Arnie and Dennis when Dennis was baiting the villain in the school parking lot.

Gripping personification of a jealous car

Narrator artfully delivers with rhythm and intensity that matches the rises and falls of plot.

Clips off

The story was good and well performed, but pretty frequently the ends of sentences would be cut off. Not enough to lose the meaning, but enough to throw you off.

At times the audio with cutout, white mating certain words were missing. But, the story was great!

Entertaining!

I've never been interested in this book because I thought the antagonist sounded silly--a car? However, this was a wonderfully spooky read and I finished it in just over a week! I listened mostly during my commute, but found myself cooking dinner to it, walking around school with it in my ears and even just sitting down in my living room. Great narrator as well!

Read the book as a 15 year old.

Book was too slow for me at 15 and I must have skipped large portions of it because the book was so much better this time around, lots of stuff I dont remember from back then.
Outstanding book and I was bummed out that it ended.
The movie was good but it fell well short of the book!

Loved it

I listen to audio books at work makes shifts go by faster. I've listen to a handful of steohen King ones and Christine will always be my favorite. Loved the delivery of this book and how it was read. The story itself is one of my favorites but the audio book didn't disappoint!
