About this listen

This was Laina's second Christmas without her parents, who had died in an accident, and she was sure it would bring nothing but tears, because she and her aunt couldn't seem to get along. When a frightening experience occurs, Laina, her cousin, and her aunt and uncle find unexpected cause for smiles.

This is a sweet, simple, short story, suitable for most families. Narrator reads very clearly. There is a brief mention of a situation of pregnancy out of wedlock, though with children, it’s likely to slip by unnoticed, and doesn’t account for the majority of the plot.

This is a sweet story about a family that chooses to be family. I love that. The narration can get a little one-note at times, but it’s still a soothing listen.
