About this listen

Meredith Vincent, the popular co-host of the number-one talk show, It's a Great Day, New York, is at the top of her game and has everything she's ever dreamed of. Her perfect world comes crashing down when her husband is killed in a plane crash, and she discovers that she was under investigation for embezzlement. In the aftermath of the scandal that follows, Meredith loses everything.

On the recommendation of her attorney, Meredith has to leave town and lay low. So with little more than the clothes on her back, she catches a bus and heads to the last place she remembered being happy; a Hippy retreat in West Texas called Quiet Castle.

In the hills of Texas with the help of a troubled orphan, the spirit of the previous owner, and a lost love, Meredith begins the process of picking up the pieces of her broken life and discovers what true happiness really is.

Great characters

So far my favorite Christmas read this year. A large cast of characters who each interestingly added to the story in their own endearing way. A bit predictable and unbelievable at times but I still loved the premise. After all it is Christmas so when better to believe?

Cozy morality tale with princess to pauper theme

The bad husband and the good wife surface again in a morality tale that jumpstarts with the husbands death and betrayal. The clueless wife is a morning news show hostess who can't or doesn't read what she signs. Big no-no! After she is fired and accused of financial crimes, Meredith Vincent needs to grow up fast (and learn to read). She goes back to her natural redheadedness, takes a public bus to Texas, and helps clean and reopen a bed and breakfast for the graceless. ...
