About this listen

Summer has come to Busman's Harbor, Maine, and tourists are lining up for a taste of authentic New England seafood, courtesy of the Snowden Family Clambake Company. But there's something sinister on the boil this season. A killer has crashed a wedding party, adding mystery to the menu at the worst possible moment....

Julia Snowden returned to her hometown to rescue her family's struggling clambake business - not to solve crimes. But that was before a catered wedding on picturesque Morrow Island turned into a reception for murder. When the best man's corpse is found hanging from the grand staircase in the Snowden family mansion, Julia must put the chowder pot on the back burner and join the search for the killer. And with suspicion falling on her old crush, Chris Durand, the recipe for saving her business and salvaging her love life might be one and the same....

Narrator wasn't the best.

Story would have been better for me with a different narrator, however she was not consistently bad.

Narrator lets this good story down wicked badly

The story was good, the writing well done, and the ending a decent surprise. However, when a book is set in Maine (I'm a native Mainer), one should not have a narrator with a midwestern twang. Add to that, Ms Rosenberg pronounces a hard "G" at the end of all words ending in such - "ending-guh", "wedding-guh", "speaking-guh". It is horrible, "wrong-guh", hard to listen to, makes me question who thought she'd be a good choice to read a story set in Maine, where Nobody pronounces the final "g" ever! In Maine, you get married at a "weddin", when you talk you're "speakin", your cute kids are "cunnin", and this Mainer knows for sure that Ms Rosenberg is a "flat landah" who should be readin' books about Chicago, not coastal Maine! I won't be listenin' to anymore audiobooks that she narrates. Just sayin'.

Fair

Enough plot to keep me listening but needs editing and the heroine can get really annoying.

Awful Narrator

Overall I enjoyed the book and the coziness of Maine throughout the story. I could not stand the narrator though, her voice made so many characters sound like children.

Ridiculous narrator

The amount of words she mispronounces is insane - some words she just pronounces weirdly, like she says “cap” instead of “cab”- the pitch of her voice is grating in general but she can’t help that I guess. It also sounds like she has too much spit in her mouth or something 😭

Terrible narrator

The story was okay. But the narrator kept mispronouncing words and her accents were terrible. She mispronounced Rohypnol as “rofenol.” Come on.

Not good

Got to chapter 6 and had to quit. it is full of near constant combative, unhappy, contentious interactions, issues, thoughts and dialogue. When it isn't all this it jumps to teenager type romance talk. I highly DON'T RECOMMEND this book.
