About this listen

The Holy Spirit is not difficult to understand. Unfortunately, what many people believe about the Holy Spirit and miracles isn’t in the Bible.

I was confused for many years about the Holy Spirit because I sought answers from church leaders, the internet, experiences, and my feelings. They all gave me conflicting answers. Sound familiar? Finally, I did what I should have done from the beginning - open the Bible and study deeply. And what I found surprised me. Perhaps you’ll be surprised too!

In Clouded by Emotion, you’ll discover the Bible’s answers to your questions about:

  • The identity of the Holy Spirit (who or what?)
  • Baptism with the Holy Spirit (should I ask for this today?)
  • Speaking in tongues (you might be surprised!)
  • Being filled with the Holy Spirit (a blessing or a command?)
  • How to listen to the Spirit (it’s easier than you think!)
  • Miraculous gifts today (which ones are genuine?)
  • And more (so much more!)

Each of the 13 chapters ends with discussion questions and access to a short video for Bible classes and personal devotion.

Using for classes

This is truly a great book easy to read and follow, and heavy I'm scripture so that the reader can know where the authority for what is written is derived from. I had previously read a book by H. Leo Boles on the Holy Spirit, and it combined with this book provide such a well rounded teaching tool to use in addition to the authority of the scriptures. I intend to teach a class at my congregation using the chapter titles found within this book. I highly recommend.

Lance Does It Again!

I am very grateful for Lance's writtings. If you have not read his earlier book, Transformed, stop reading this review and get a copy. Lance in a simple to understand and indepth fashion tackles the very rich and controversial Biblical topic of the Holy Spirit. He handles the subject in a humble way that engages one's mind to think critically on the subject while challenging the reader/listener to study for themselves and draw their own conclusions.

Since I know the author, it was also good to hear a friendly voice narrate the book. It was like having a conversation with an old friend.

Clear and biblical treatment of a complex topic

While being respectful of people's experiences from various backgrounds, Lance is able to offer a clear and thoroughly examination of what the scriptures actually say about the topic of the Holy Spirt. Our feelings and emotions tend to cloud this topic in common conversation, yet Lance's thoughtful consideration of the text effectively clears away those clouds, revealing that the truth may be a little simpler than you once thought.

Clear and Concise

I appreciate the way the author approached the subject of the Holy Spirit. It was good to hear about the people he encountered along the way and the studies he had with them. He did an excellent job of presenting the material so it is easy to understand. His reading of the book was also very good.
