About this listen

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From Wharton professor and author of the popular One Useful Thing Substack newsletter Ethan Mollick comes the definitive playbook for working, learning, and living in the new age of AI

Something new entered our world in November 2022—the first general purpose AI that could pass for a human and do the kinds of creative, innovative work that only humans could do previously. Wharton professor Ethan Mollick immediately understood what ChatGPT meant: after millions of years on our own, humans had developed a kind of co-intelligence that could augment, or even replace, human thinking. Through his writing, speaking, and teaching, Mollick has become one of the most prominent and provocative explainers of AI, focusing on the practical aspects of how these new tools for thought can transform our world.

In Co-Intelligence, Mollick urges us to engage with AI as co-worker, co-teacher, and coach. He assesses its profound impact on business and education, using dozens of real-time examples of AI in action. Co-Intelligence shows what it means to think and work together with smart machines, and why it's imperative that we master that skill.

Mollick challenges us to utilize AI's enormous power without losing our identity, to learn from it without being misled, and to harness its gifts to create a better human future. Wide ranging, hugely thought-provoking, optimistic, and lucid, Co-Intelligence reveals the promise and power of this new era.

A limited amount of text-to-speech is used throughout the title for specific characters to achieve a particular creative effect, and the title is otherwise narrated by a human.

great content, narration challenged

Ethan is a great thinker and share-r, but his narration is almost bad enough to not purchase. I had a credit to use and I wanted to hear the material, but I would have rather heard ChatGPT narrate the entire text in his style and tone minus his enunciation challenges.

Outstanding!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will give it a second listen, maybe even a third. From where I sit, it's an excellent over view of the current state of AI, and a compelling glimpse into the future.

Well done, Mr. Mollick!

Fast but Interesting

The narration was too fast even after slowing it on my device. But the information was fascinating and helps me think about AI over the next few years.

Forward Thinking

Mollick has a likable voice that the listener can embrace while disseminating unnerving content. The text was short and not overwhelming allowing the listener to pause and reflect.

Invite ai in your every day life

I had to listen at 85% speed . At 75, I enjoyed the explanation of what training AI meant and being taught the concept of LLM principles.

AI will permeate society

Liked the limericks created by AI. How does it know what words rhyme with each other?

Mollick Avoids the Hype

Been eagerly awaiting this book for some weeks. Mollick’s insight on AI and weaving it into the audiobook (with a different voice!!) is hauntingly brilliant. I will get my colleagues together and dig in together as we go over it again. I especially loved the parts that reminded me that AI is a supercharger for our own creativity not a replacement. Well done!

If you read one book on generative AI, this should be it

He's done an outstanding job of fully explaining generative AI and exploring It's implications. There are many important ideas in this book including his four rules for working with AI, th many ways that he demonstrates how we could be collaborating with AI, and the multiple scenarios of possible futures with AI. However, what I enjoyed most was his descriptions of how he utilized generative AI to write this book: that content truly illuminated the process of co-intelligent collaboration.

Very insightful read. So much to learn

This book was well written and provided several helpful insights into the world of AI and how to think about it today. It helped me to think about my own approach to AI and how to best leverage it going forward. My main critique is about Mollick’s narration of the book. His pattern of speech is quite difficult to understand with many slurred words and confusing articulations. I had to slow the book down and it took me awhile to learn how to listen to him. But overall I learned a lot
