About this listen

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From Wharton professor and author of the popular One Useful Thing Substack newsletter Ethan Mollick comes the definitive playbook for working, learning, and living in the new age of AI

Something new entered our world in November 2022—the first general purpose AI that could pass for a human and do the kinds of creative, innovative work that only humans could do previously. Wharton professor Ethan Mollick immediately understood what ChatGPT meant: after millions of years on our own, humans had developed a kind of co-intelligence that could augment, or even replace, human thinking. Through his writing, speaking, and teaching, Mollick has become one of the most prominent and provocative explainers of AI, focusing on the practical aspects of how these new tools for thought can transform our world.

In Co-Intelligence, Mollick urges us to engage with AI as co-worker, co-teacher, and coach. He assesses its profound impact on business and education, using dozens of real-time examples of AI in action. Co-Intelligence shows what it means to think and work together with smart machines, and why it's imperative that we master that skill.

Mollick challenges us to utilize AI's enormous power without losing our identity, to learn from it without being misled, and to harness its gifts to create a better human future. Wide ranging, hugely thought-provoking, optimistic, and lucid, Co-Intelligence reveals the promise and power of this new era.

A limited amount of text-to-speech is used throughout the title for specific characters to achieve a particular creative effect, and the title is otherwise narrated by a human.

great intro book marred by poor narration

Mollick's book (and blog) are must reads. However I ended up buying the kindle version because the audible was too hard to listen to.

Great book, but either hire a narrator or SLOW DOWN!

I only just finished the first chapter (so far), and I will update this review after I finish the book, but I felt I needed to say something about the author/narrator. He speaks WAY TOO FAST for an Audible book!! What kind of medication is this guy taking? After about 200 Audible books, this is the only time I had to adjust the speed factor DOWN. I’m listening at 0.9 speed, and that seems to work for me. I couldn’t even understand what he was saying sometimes at 1.0 speed. He tends to let his words merge together when he gets excited, and some consonants seem to go out the window. Overall, I’m loving the book, but I really wish he had used a narrator other than himself for the Audible book.

The must read serious book of the moment

Compelling look at the ephemeral now. My second time listening through is not my last. A great book for communities rural and urban. Let’s pay attention, move with AI into AGI to ward off dissension, stress, and political strife. Ethan Mollick Is a perceptive thought leader. Let’s follow him!!

Terrible narration

Horrible narrator. Sounds like they have a cold. Bad mic. Eating and tripping over his own words

Worthwhile for anyone grappling with AI and its implications in the world today and tomorrow.

It provides a great lens to view the current state of AI through and some helpful mental frameworks to move forward in.

A very worthwhile and easy read.

great content, narration challenged

Ethan is a great thinker and share-r, but his narration is almost bad enough to not purchase. I had a credit to use and I wanted to hear the material, but I would have rather heard ChatGPT narrate the entire text in his style and tone minus his enunciation challenges.

Outstanding!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will give it a second listen, maybe even a third. From where I sit, it's an excellent over view of the current state of AI, and a compelling glimpse into the future.

Well done, Mr. Mollick!

Fast but Interesting

The narration was too fast even after slowing it on my device. But the information was fascinating and helps me think about AI over the next few years.
