Sweet connection with some steam and suspense

Entertaining story with a good mix of sweet and steamy. I wasn't a huge fan of the premise, but I liked both characters and the bits of suspense added to the story. Listening with Audible was a good experience. The narrator did a good job; she had a nice tone to her voice. Recommend listening if you have the chance. Ethan is a nice guy with a sweetheart. Loved how protective and supportive he is of Julia and Luna. I liked Julia okay; she's a bit too much damsel for my liking, but she has her moments of strength. Ethan and his friends have purchased an old apartment building that they are renovating for themselves. Julia and toddler Luna live in the last apartment left with tenants, but Ethan has been trying to get her to move so they can finish renovations. A snow storm and an illness get in the way of any plans of Julia finding somewhere else to live. Ethan ends up being a lot more involved in Julia and Luna's lives than he ever expected, and Julia has some secrets that may prove dangerous. I wasn't fully a fan of Julia dodging her landlords and how she came to live in the US, but the story does have some interesting elements that kept the story entertaining. Overall, a good story that has me looking forward to more!

New Series Spin-Off

New Series Spin-Off

This is the first spin-off book from the Singular Obsession series; the new series is called Rogues and Rescuers, which is certainly à propos. If you’ve listened to or read any of the Singular Obsession books, you'll be at least peripherally familiar with the hero of this book, Ethan, an FBI agent. Often the other heroes in that series were either trying to hide something from their friend Ethan or needing his help! This is Ethan and Julieta's story. Ethan's a bit of a player, but all that changes during a blizzard when he and the heroine are forced together while she is very ill, so ill that she’s barely conscious when he finds her … and her little girl is wandering around. He is a protector by nature, even if he's a bit grumbly about it and doesn't quite know what to do with her toddler daughter. He's so cute and sweet with her, though. It always softens the hero when he's good with kids. In fact, one of my favorite later scenes came a little later in the book after the blizzard had passed and they are all with his group of friends’ families, and Ethan has a very serious discussion with his very young godson about consent! Through the forced proximity and gradually coming to appreciate that the heroine is in danger, Ethan becomes more and more protective and eventually cares for the heroine and her little girl. Of course, things have to get bad before the end, but the hero does a fantastic job for the woman he's come to love and her little girl who has spontaneously started to call him Daddy. I listened to the audiobook version of this story, and the narrator did well on certain things—like the little girl's voice she was able to make so endearing, even her simple phrases—yet other parts weren't good. The one that perhaps drove me the most crazy was how often the Mexican heroine sounded more like she was from Russia rather than Mexico! In my mind, those accents are completely different! A thoroughly enjoyable listen, though, and I am looking forward to more in this series.

Cute story

Good storyline even though it is a little predictable. The main characters have good chemistry and there is some action/suspense too.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

Story comment: good pace, well written characters and an entertaining story.
I enjoyed watching FBI agent and longtime bachelor Ethan's gruff edges soften as he spends time caring for Julie and learned what to do with her toddler. 😆

Narrator comment: Marie Smith is a new narrator for me and I think she's done a good job narrating Codename Romeo. I had no problem distinguishing characters and her rhythm, inflections and intonations all worked to bring the book to life.

Absolutely Amazing!

This book had me hooked from the start! I loved little Luna and the love and nervousness Ethan shows from the beginning. I'm new to this author and will definitely be looking for more of her books.

Calling the FBI for daddy duty

This is book 1 of Rogues and Rescuers and a standalone story of Ethan and Juliette. Ethan is an FBI agent who comes home to a toddler in the hallway and an unconscious woman. He decides to take care of both of them. What's a bachelor to do when he has no clue how to take care of a baby. This is a fun read with suspense, steamy scenes and a happy ending.

Codename Romeo

I enjoy Lucy Leroux’s writing style. Unfortunately, I did not care for this book as much as "Eat You Up." Absolutely loved that book. Ethan owned an apartment building with his buddies and was slowly renovating it. Julia was staying in a studio with her niece Luna. Ethan is an FBI agent and Julia is on the run after her family is killed. There are some really funny scenes with the baby, Luna and how Ethan reacts. I love how everything worked out in the end with Juliette, Luna and Ethan. I am not sure I will continue on with the series. I will wait until a book 2 comes out.

Marie Smith did a good job with the narration. I was given this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
