About this listen

The minute I hear my brother's best friend was traded to my city's pro football team, I know this is my shot. There's no way I'm missing my chance to give my first crush my V-card.

When Grayson Nash walks into the bar, he has no idea I'm little Ava Maxwell, the one he promised to look after when he moved to Vegas.

After a sizzling, sheet-clutching first experience of my dreams, we exchange numbers and a plan to extend our undeniable connection into something more. I promise myself I'll tell him the truth about who I am… eventually.

He finds out before I tell him, and he wants nothing to do with me. But when my ex won't take the hint, Grayson swoops in pretending to be my new boyfriend.

Now I'm dating the defensive back—or faking it, anyway. It's not fake for me, though, and lines blur with stolen glances and searing touches. But between the promise he made to my brother and the secrets stacking up, I have no idea how to turn my fake boyfriend into my real-life forever love.

Dating the Defensive Back is a steamy football, brother's best friend, fake dating romance from Amazon top ten bestselling author Lisa Suzanne.

LOVED!

I really enjoyed this story! I like how it tied into previous Ace’s series books and also brings in the other Nash Brothers to bring the series and world into the next era.

I really enjoyed watching Grayson & Ava connect. I didn’t like that they had to break up but it felt so real and I loved how she didn’t give him a second chance right away. They got to know each other more and let their friendship blossom as he healed her broken trust and bruised heart. 🥰🥰🥰

This gem was narrated by Kelsey Navarro-Foster & Thor Tom and I thought they meshed PERFECTLY for these characters.

Grayson & Ava!

Lisa Suzanne had me at kitchen sink cookies! This is a fun and flirty listen with just the right amount of angst and sizzle. Grayson Nash knows his career is coming to an end, and what better way to go out than on his own terms. Trading to Las Vegas to play long his younger brother and be coached by his oldest is just icing on the cake. So then why does he mess his personal life up the first chance he gets?Ava is his best friend's sister, but he hasn't seen her in years. Little does he know that she is the girl he took home! She knows, and now when the cat is out of the bag, there needs to be some cleanup! How does it all turn out? This is a fun, fast paced, fake romance that had me glued to my ear buds. Nash is a tough nut for sure, but his he has the heart of a teddy bear. Ava is sweet on the outside, but focused on what she wants on the inside. Plus cookies! I love a good one! This is a must listen for all those that love sports, brother's best friend, fake relationship romances. It's worth every minute!

Kelsey Navarro Foster and Tor Thom are our story tellers and together they sizzle! Foster finds her niche in Ava! She is quick witted, fast thinking and passionate about everything she loves and each scene comes alive with the narration. Nash is stubborn yet his charismatic personality keeps things moving. Thom dials into each facet of his personality and comes through with and amazing character. These two worked their magic and made for an incredible listen.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Loved this story. Just wish all of the male speaking parts (even from the female pov) were recorded by the guy and vice versa. It was a little weird at first.

Voice male actor is awful

The female voice actor was great, however the male voice actor was awful. I nearly stopped the book several times due to him. I didn't like his voice but the cadence of his words was bad to me and the way he breathes betweed sentences is bad. His female voicea are positively cringe.

Good until it wasn't

Started out great. Kept my interest until it got to the "third act." Then it just got corny, and there was too much back and forth and whining.
Also, Tor Thom has never been one of my favorites, due to his reading style and cadence. That being said, this is probably the best read of his I've heard. The female voice actor was good.
Overall, this is not a bad book, and I would recommend if you're into the feel good type of book.

Cute but honhum

Narration decent for both -this family of books usually better good at first then sorta a desperate girl that seems whinny -I was more interested in her roommates story -main girl just seemed like she was gonna get it and she did -so there ya go

Could have been better

I’m sorry but the word cunt is NEVER sexy, and the ML was irritating. I did finish the book but it could have been better.

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 The beautiful cover—I wanted to fall in love with this story just so I could have this beauty on my shelf.
🤩 I loved the first quarter of this book—these two hotties have a great connection and are so good together. The plot is captivating and fun, going right into the storyline. All the feels.
🤩 The secret crush, pining, and identity. The hitting on and flirting. The one-night-stand.
🤩 Kelsey Navarro does a great job giving all the feels for Ava’s character. I especially love her performance on Ava’s drunk breakup call.
🤩 The end is quite cute and sweet.

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 I’m so sad. I want to love this one because it has my two favorite tropes—brother’s best friend and fake dating. But it felt so annoying and frustrating to me. I need to love my MCs, and Grayson just isn’t ready to be loved in this story. It has way too long of seriousness and secrets.
💫 Grayson Nash needs some serious therapy, way more than his mom’s little chat.
💫 The MCs seemed to lose their chemistry and connection.
💫 I almost DNFed but I had just purchased the audiobook after being late on the eARC.
💫 It’s so hard to rate the narration when the story is irritating me. Tor Thom seemed flat, just telling the story, but it could have been the writing or that I didn’t like Grayson as a character.
