Excellent technical review

I listened to this audiobook as a review in preparation for the CompTia Network+ exam. It is an excellent review of the concepts that I learned when I took a college class about networking.

The lecture series focuses on the technical specifications that are easily forgotten. Examples of this are various types of cables, various protocols and how they function and interrelate, standards and what they apply to, functions of various command line prompts, etc.

I haven't taken the exam yet, but I would NOT use this as my sole source of information for the exam. This is a REVIEW. This is NOT a course.

The narration was good for such a technical topic. I didn't find it too sing-songy or flat, and the cadence kept me engaged with the material. The brevity of the lectures makes the audiobook perfect for a quick review that you can listen to over and over again in preparation for the test. At least, that's how I intend to use it.

nice, but the reader really should of slowed down

If you could sum up CompTIA Network+ (N10-004) Lecture Series in three words, what would they be?

I really enjoyed this book, I think it was good, but the information is out of date. The other thing that bugged me was how quick the author read through everything, I think when you get to the abbreviations for things, it helps you remember what they stand for and what they do, when you slow down a bit while reading or talking to learn them. It was a nice little thing to spend the free credit on but... Wishing that they would add some more updated books to this category, and I also wish that they would have someone read these that actually can understand that slowing down for numbers and aberrations can really help people learn and take in more information at once.

Would you be willing to try another book from PrepLogic? Why or why not?

No, most of their books in the audio section are fairly outdated

Would you listen to another book narrated by uncredited?

No, way to fast

Out of date, and not very thorough.

This was recorded for an older version of the N+ exam, so it is missing many current things. Also, the speaker often references visual literature that I wasn't able to find (I didn't look very hard). All in all, this is a good refresher for when you're driving, but I wouldn't use this as a major study aid.

Very detailed, but hard to keep the concentration as it is read fast and reference a lot of numbers and technical details. but othervise great. It sounds as the soundtrack to a video...

The narrator clearly is does not have his Net+

Would you consider the audio edition of CompTIA Network+ (N10-004) Lecture Series to be better than the print version?

No.

Any additional comments?

The narrator is clearly not a networking guy. The information is good, but certain words are pronounced incorrectly (for example "demarc") and nobody calls a "NIC" and N.I.C." Things like this may seem small, but can cause confusion to new techs wishing to enter the Networking field after earning their certification.

Boring but needed

This is almost like attending a class lecture. It is not very entertaining but it is good to jog the memory.

not bad

not bad, but it is constantly referring to tables and images when it knows it's an audiobook.

Excellent in-depth knowledge

I've enjoyed this in-depth knowledge based lecture series, and hope to find more similar to this. The narrator was excellent in his skill set, and conveyed the message through properly.

Mediocre coverage

If you've listened to any other PrepLogic Comptia audiobook then this book will seem great by comparison. It is a big improvement over the 702 book, but it's still too short to be really useful. This book is better than nothing but it is supplementary only... do not think that this book will give you nearly the information you will need to pass the network+ exam.
