One of the best studying materials on Audible

I have been studying the Japanese language for two years now. "Conversational Japanese Dialogues" is a rich material with step-by-step learning that helps to increase your skills using the provided tips and tricks. The short stories are also an excellent way to get a better perspective on both Japanese culture and language.

Good supplementary material for learning Japanese

This is a good supplement to a more structured teaching methodology, like Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone. You should have a good grasp of Hiragana, Katakana and some basic kanji before using it so that you can read the transcript. I started using it when I was in the fourth of five Pimsleur courses.

Positives:
+ The transcript includes furigana, which is helpful for reading kanji.
+ Covers a lot of topics so you'll learn a lot of vocabulary and grammar concepts.

Negatives:
- The Japanese audio quality doesn't seem to be as good as the English audio quality.
- They only use two speakers. When learning it's important to listen to as many different speakers as possible because everybody has slightly varied pronunciation.

Serious approach and compelling dialogues

This book brings detailed translations for day-to-day examples, which you can adapt for all sorts of conversations. It provides a range of topics and expressions you would likely witness in everyday exchanges.

I enjoyed the size of the chapters, each content with practicable length, and they get more and more complex and challenging towards the end of the book, as they go a little more in-depth. I believe dialogues are the best way to create a context in a way that reinforces comprehension.

Each chapter presents a glossary at the end and quiz questions that helped me build my vocabulary. As an introduction to Japanese, it allowed me to expand my listening and reading skills. I recommend reading the sentences out loud while listening for further practice, listening to each chapter a second and third times.

Really good!

This is really good way for beginners to immerse in the language and work on their reading and listening practice. While this is certainly not for people who are totally new to the language (you need to have decent amount of vocabulary and grammar knowledge already to get the most out of this I think) I would highly recommend.

Unlike the Japanese short stories for beginners by Lingo Mastery which I would also recommend, these conversations are short, very relatable to everyday scenarios and most importantly in my opinion use informal language. The Japanese you will encounter everyday, and which is most commonly used. While I do enjoy the short stories, the use of formal language (masu forms etc.) makes this audiobook the best for learners.

Having said this the short stories do have vocabulary lists and these books do not which is why you must have a good amount of vocab before diving in. Then any unknown words you come across you can to your anki decks or however you learn vocab.

I hope there will be a second version of the conversations.

Badly formatted for audio

It gives the entire dialogue in Japanese, then the entire dialogue in English. Unless you have the memory of a savant, this isn't the greatest way to learn, so I'm returning this.

I have Lingo Mastery's Japanese Short Stories, and in that, when they give you the English translation, they give you a couple lines of Japanese followed by those same lines in English. This works way better as you don't have to remember several minutes of dialogue, which seems nearly impossible.
