About this listen

A little blue world, the third planet from the sun. It’s home to seven billion people with all manner of faiths, beliefs, and customs, divided by bigotry and misunderstanding, who will soon be told they are not alone in the universe. Anyone watching from the outside would pass by this fractured and tumultuous world, unless they had no other choice.

Todd Landon is one of these people, living and working in a section of the world called the United States of America. His life is similar to those around him: home, family, work, friends, and a husband.

After the attack on San Jose, Todd is appointed to Special Envoy for Terran Affairs by the nentraee, a position many world leaders question. Undeterred Todd wants to build bridges between both people. However, this new position brings with it a new set of problems that not only he, but his new allies Mi’ko and Mirtoff must overcome. Will the humans and nentraee learn to work together despite mistrust and threats of more attacks by a new global terrorist group, or will the terrorists win? Will this bring an end to an already shaky alliance between nentraee and humans?

Very Good!

After listening to Contact, I immediately moved on to Conviction. I highly recommend that you listen or read in order, however, they do well on their own. Conviction really got into the meat of the lives of each character. We were able to get to decide if we really liked them or not and why. I loved the development of Dan, his true character & kindness, more than anyone else, to be honest. However, Todd growing into himself was pretty cool to see, as well. I could say so much about this book, but I don't want to give it all away. You simply need to read both books.
I listened to this audiobook, as well as the first one, and Steve Conner did a fantastic job with this audiobook. I feel that he really became 'Todd' in this one and was comfortable with the story. I actually forgot that I was being 'read to' and was getting to hear a story from a good story teller.
I highly recommend.

Great sequel

Nicely done-again. The story wraps up and the tense parts left me on the edge of my seat

Similar quality to the first book with more action

Overall I liked this story more than the first, but I was disappointed with the development of some of the characters. Todd's friends carried the same tropes they had in the first book and never gained any substance. The romance in the story was tastefully done. The villain was a bit over the top, but honestly I liked that. Overall I didn't feel like I wasted my time listening. I would recommend to some people but not everyone.

Needing more!

What a fantastic story. You don’t want it to end, and when it does, you want more. I can’t wait to continue this adventure!
