About this listen

New life? Check.

Road to a career? Check.

Housemates? Check.

Can you keep your hands off them? Undetermined.

I wasn’t expecting my new housemates to be as hot as they are. And it’s going to be a struggle to stick to my personal rules of no relationships with them.

They’re all so tempting, sweet, and funny. Well, except for one.

Yep, definitely hard.

And with their help, I’ll learn to manage my mischief magic. No more flying, honking toys for me.

But questions rise when more powers surface for me, and it’s obvious I’m not just your average pixie halfling. Can we find answers together? And can I stick to my personal rules of friends only?

This is book one of a completed six-book series.

Please note: This is a paranormal romance where the the FMC doesn't choose, a slow/medium burn featuring a fae halfling, broody vampire, shifters, and witches/warlocks.

An interesting story!

I like this book a lot. The shifters in this story all have interesting backgrounds that leave you wanting to know more about them. An added bonus is the inclusion of shifters not normally seen in these types of books. I have already downloaded the next book in the series. The narrators do a great job telling the story and I look forward to listening to the rest of the series.

Oh no Bee-Sting... look what you've started!

Oh, Bee-sting... Strictly friends and housemates.... lol. Yeah right
This was way better than I thought it would be. It was a solid first book for a series. J.E has amazing world-building skills. I've never heard of some of these shifters before. But I guess that's what you get when your shifter world is in Australia. I love all the characters. They are all so different and creative. I can't wait to find out more about them all!
And a Pixy- werewolf shifter is rare, as I would expect. But it wasn't the Pixy part that was different. Wolfs are rare in Australia, I guess. And when I read that this was a reverse harem book... I wondered if it was ever going to happen for any of them! But finally, some of the smut come up in towards the end of the book. I was surprised at who was first. And can't wait to see what happens in the next book. JE Clueny set herself up for a great series that could last for a long time.

Fascinating & Enjoyable! Terrific Story & Listen🎧

This is an amazing start to a fascinating series, and as my first book written by J.E. Cluney, she definitely has my attention now. I enjoyed her writing style and the characters and storylines she created, which are interesting and original.  This book lays down the foundation for the series and we get to meat the lead characters and learn what their paranormal abilities are. The lead female, Allison “Ally” is attending Corviticus University, a school for the supernaturals, her parents died when she was young and her aunt took her in, but she did not allow her to learn or use her supernatural abilities. She is going in to Corviticus with little knowledge of her abilities or even her family history. She found an affordable place to live off campus, renting a room and it turns out she will be sharing a house with four guys, Marcus, Ollie, Skip and Lucas, each one as unique as their own supernatural powers. Marcus is a bit of a jerk at first, but redeems himself by the end, Ollie, is adorable, Skip is hilarious, and Lucas, nice guy but still a bit of a mystery. The camaraderie amongst the guys is great and Ally fits right in, but she has no idea what is in store for her. There is a great chemistry between her and each guy, but this is a super slow burn and things are starting to really heat-up before ending and leaving you to want more. This cleverly plotted story has a perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, humor, heartfelt emotions, and the start of what is going to be a sizzling hot romance. J.E. Cluney, thank you for this great story and I am looking forward to see where it goes and learn more about these characters.

🎧📚🎧And for the fantastic narration, Allyson Voller and Les Horovitz are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, performed the role accordingly, and were believable in every role they played. Voller’s versatility truly shined in this book, and she did an amazing job as Ally, grasping all sides of her personality and she was just as amazing performing the roles of the other characters too. Horovitz is just amazing covering the roles for the lead males for their chapters, and like Voller, he gives each their own distinct voice and personality. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fabulous listen.

Interesting

Ok so this isn’t your average shifter group
We have a warlock
A witch turned vamp
A red kangaroo and a true fae that can only become a house cat presently.
Listening via audio let this one down in my eyes, I guess being from the side of the world that has Australia as my closest neighbour really hits home when the accent isn’t done right….. especially in this one where there’s meant be a New Zealander Language from Māori decent ….. both accents are done quite horribly. I don’t really understand why you wouldn’t just get a Australian narrator if the author wanted a proper accent done?

Anyway, the storyline has enough spark in it for me to eventually continue to read the series at some point. I believe this will turn into a rh and I’m intrigued to find out what exactly our fmc is.

Loving these supernatural powers and creatures!

This was my first book from this author and the concept of this university and the main character, Allison, kept me engaged and wanting to know more, so I would give it 3.5-4 stars. I think because I enjoyed these characters as much as I did the lack of a storyline/progression still allowed it to be a 4 star in my opinion. Again its all about the personal preference. I don’t always need a book to have a riveting storyline if the character development and worldbuilding building is done well, especially the first one.

I liked the university and world with all the different supernatural creatures and powers. I will say there was more than my brain could handle sometimes when a lot of powers or subgenres of creatures were listed quickly haha. I really liked the housemates in this one and how different they are to each other. I loved Oliver, he was my favorite. I thought it was hilarious in the beginning with him and Allie. I hope we get answers to his curse in book 2, that was a huge opened question in this one. Also, when are we going to find out what creature Allie is? I mean we know she is part wolf and part pixie but that can’t be all after some of her powers and hints dropped throughout the book. I am not sure how many books are in this series, but I feel like it would need to be a lot to explain all this intricacies.

I hope we get some actual steamy moments with guys now that the impulse pushed one of them and Allie (I was wondering if that was a mate thing?). I thought it was cool how that went down and we finally got to see his harsh past. I cannot wait til more things can happen, especially after the hints of poly relationships!! Skip to me has a lot under the surface that I want to know more, he puts up this facade of the funny, flirty, man-w. I think Lucas is gonna be like one of the most vulnerable because of what his parents did. I loved the reveal from Lucas about Ollie being kinky! I cannot wait 😍😍😍.

So again for the story, there really wasn’t much there. I am not sure what the overall plot will be (like is Allie a secret creature that people are trying to find and kidnap/hurt?) I know there is tension with all these guys and their families. We have the bad exes from her aunt and herself who have done some terrible physical and mental abuse. But overall not sure what is gonna happen in the series/what is the point. The characters and worldbuilding are the show of this book, hopefully we get more steam and plot in book 2 and they are balanced out.

In terms of the narration I thought the accents were done pretty well. The female narrator did sometimes come out of the Aussie accent but overall she did the accent better than a lot of other narrators I have heard. I thought the male narrator did a great job. The nightmare and flashback emotions the characters had to deal with were done well, the tension and light flirting was fun. Overall the narration gets 4/5 from me because I would listen to them again and they helped bring these characters to life ❤️

Can't stop listening

Loved this book. A pixie/wolve girl moves into a house with four guys for her to go to school. These guys aren't just normal guys, besides they demi-god looks, they also are gifted like her. You have magic, shapeshifter, and a vampire. No for young readers because of the sexual feelings but can she keep her sexual attraction in check while living there.

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest reveiw.
