About this listen

You can't dance this dance unless it's in your blood. Claire McCall is praying it's not in hers. Claire McCall is used to fighting back against the odds. Hard work, aptitude, and sheer determination have helped her rise from adverse circumstances to an internship in one of the nation's most competitive surgical residencies. But talent and tenacity mean nothing in the face of the discovery that is about to rock her world. It's called the "Stoney Creek Curse" by folks in the small mountain town where Claire grew up. Behind the superstition lies a reality that could destroy her career.

But getting to the truth is far from easy in a community with secrets to hide. As a web of relationships becomes increasingly tangled, two things become apparent. One is that more than one person doesn't want Claire to probe too deeply into the "Stoney Creek Curse". The other is that someone has reasons other than the curse for wanting Claire out of the picture permanently. Somewhere in the course of pursuing her career as a surgeon, Claire lost touch with the God who called her to it. Now she realizes how desperately she needs him. But can she reclaim a faith strong enough to see her through this deadly dance of circumstances?

Great Story, not so great narration

What did you like best about Could I Have This Dance?? What did you like least?

It was a good story, maybe a bit to much Dr 'Jargin' but I did enjoy it and had to listen to it all. I just felt that the narrator sounded as if she was 'reading' a book not performing a naration.

Was Could I Have This Dance? worth the listening time?

Yes

Not great, but not horrible

I chose this book for something different, as I tend to listen to a lot of Sci Fi and Suspence novels.I enjoyed the story as it was interesting to me to read about Huntingtons Disease(HD) but the narrator was horrible! Flat montone, without any charisma. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was a different narrator and she I didn't have to hear her say "HD" as much as she seemed to!

Great Book

This is a great book. It has romance, mystery and just a great story. I really enjoyed the way the author presented our relationship with God!

Good Story, but not so good narration

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator definitely. She was reading the story instead bringing the story to life. This is how it sounds to read the book to kindergarteners. There was very little voice change from character to character and sometimes it was hard to follow who was speaking. They also sound really flat. The book has a lot of medical terminology, but I actually enjoy it.The story line is a little predictable as well, but I don't know how much of that is to the way the story is being presented.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the inside look into the medical world and how things run or are supposed to run.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Katy Cole?

Katherine Kellgren or Kate Forbes

Do you think Could I Have This Dance? needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It already does.

Claire is annoying.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The main character is really annoying at times. It is hard to like her. The reader has an ok voice but she really is not that great of a reader. I will listen to the others in the series just because I have a thing about not knowing the whole story. This one was painful to get through at times. But I think Claire might be getting more tolerable to. She finally got a clue by the end of the book and showed some maturity. So, I will give the others a chance.

What didn’t you like about Katy Cole’s performance?

It did not flow. Taking breaths in places that did not seems natural breaks in the sentences. She is not as good a reader as many other audible readers. It is not her voice that is the problem for me. Some readers just have a voice that I really don't like or don't fit the story. That is not the case here. I am sorry but I just think that Katy does not read well enough to be doing audible books.
