Simply a Great Story!

And one that inspired some scenes in Colin Wilson's modern vampire novel called LIFE FORCE (in some editions) and THE SPACE VAMPIRES originally. M. R. James Legacy is continuing well into the 20th and 21st Centuries and David Collings' performance as the famous Don of Midnight Shivers is, as is that of the late Sir Christopher Lee on television, to be treasured by all Connoisseurs of Chills.

Fair Enough

A generally appreciable work (at least in the first read-through), Count Magnus is a tale half of how a man got to a place, and half of attempting to piece together an old tale, before anything truly happens. Despite a lack of action, and a stockpiling of mostly descriptions, which could take a toll on a reader's attention, that aside, it is a short and enjoyable story.
