About this listen

Redemption Harbor Consulting’s greatest enemy, Alexei Kuznetsov, is in their sights. For RHC cofounder Leighton, toppling the treacherous criminal’s empire is one more small step toward making up for his own past. To destroy Kuznetsov, he’ll go through the Russian’s niece, a woman Leighton suspects may also be guilty of dirty deeds. A woman he doesn’t count on wanting...who boils his blood and makes Leighton want things he doesn’t deserve with someone he can’t have.

Despite other prospects, family loyalty has Lucy Carreras running one of her uncle’s prosperous hotels. But the longer she observes its operations, the more she believes the elegant establishment is host to some shady exploits. When her suspicions are confirmed by Leighton - a dangerous man straight out of her fantasies - Lucy’s entire world explodes when she learns just how evil her uncle’s sins are.

Now, she can’t stand by and let it continue. She and Leighton will take Alexei down together...if they can survive the deadly storm hurtling toward them.

Amazing story and narration

Re-Read was via audiobook: Narrator - Sophie Eastlake

Ms. Eastlake does a great job of both male and female voices which is where I usually have a problem. However, she pulls both off with amazing talent as well as adding more depth to a story I had previously read.

Another awesome installment in this series. Filled with action and suspense with plenty of steamy goodness and some romance to round it all out.

I loved Lucy and her desire to help in what she believes to be a case of sexual trafficking. She grew up a bit broken but still taken care of. When Leighton enters her life she is attracted to him but knows it can’t be more than a temporary thing. Unfortunately, she learns some disturbing news and her world as she has always known it implodes.

Leighton is struggling with memories from his time in the Marines. His work has him crossing paths with Lucy and he’s unsure where she stands within her uncle’s organization. There are clues along the way but when he finally meets her and can sense her desire to help a woman in need he realizes that she’s an innocent among the wolves.

This has a few triggers you might want to check out if something bothers you. It’s a fast read with a good look at all the characters we’ve met along the way, although I believe it can be read as a standalone. The steam is intense and the chemistry between the hero and heroine, while not the center of the story, was still believable. However, I would’ve liked to seen them as a couple more. The case they are working on was well developed and I enjoyed watching everything unfold in both that and between Leighton and Lucy.

This ends with a sweet epilogue and a deleted scene that I appreciated having access to as it definitely shows a bit more of Leighton and what he has faced in the past. Overall, while not my favorite of the series, it was still a very good read.

Covert Games by Katie Reus

COVERT GAMES (REDEMPTION HARBOR SERIES) BOOK #6 By Katie Reus
This is another great read in the Redemption Harbor Series. I personally think this series is one of the best that Katie Reus writes. I very much enjoyed it and read it pretty much in one setting. This is the story of Leighton Cannon and Luciana Carreras. Lucy is the niece of Alexei Kuznetsov, who happens to be one of the enemies of the consulting group. Leighton, after being asked by his friend to help, is undercover working to discover where some young girls are disappearing to. He is determined to discover Lucy's role in her uncles crimes. She is the manager of one of his upscale hotels. The sparks fly immediately and the chemistry between these two is hot! Katie can always be depended on for an entertaining read that is a well developed story and with characters that you care about. Once again Sophie Eastlake is narrator and does a great job. I could listen to her all day!

Great Romance and Danger

Leighton is still struggling with what happened in Afghanistan even though he’s now in Redemption Harbor. He feels alone. His friends have all found their perfect match, but he feels that he will never be that fortunate. When his FBI friend asks for his help, he and the crew go to New Orleans to help rescue women who are being trafficked. When he goes undercover he meets Lucy, the niece of Alexei Kuznetsov, a violent and dangerous criminal kingpin. Leighton is strongly attracted to her but he needs to make sure that Lucy isn’t working for her uncle. Covert Games is an exciting and emotional story filled with memorable characters. Leighton is a powerful man who’s working to overcome the past. I fell for him. He’s a protective and caring. I knew that he would be there for Lucy. The men and women of the team are family and Leighton is one of them. I liked the snarky banter between the Redemption Harbor team. They certainly work well together. Lucy is brave and beautiful. She’s good at her job, but she won’t knowingly tolerate any criminal activity at The Sapphire. I like a feisty heroine who has the strength to stand up what she believes in. I was so happy to see characters from previous books. I like the Redemption Harbor team and their significant others. The setting is perfect and helps add drama to this story. Katie Reus has written a compelling book that kept me on the edge of my seat. The narration of Sophie Eastlake made the characters come to life. I’m a fan of the audiobook as well as the Redemption Harbor series.

Tons of action !!

Another high suspense read from this author. I love this series, and this book reminds me why. We get action, suspense, and Oh so hot romance. The team is yet again dealing with something involving Alexei Kuznetsov and this time it's Leighton who takes this case for his friend Hazel. All is going well until Leighton sees Lucy. Now all bets are off the table, and it's a game of catch and control before he loses her to her crazy, sick, twisted Uncle. Add in the narration by Sophie Eastlake and she brings the story to life. She handles each character wonderfully. Fantastic audible...

It just keeps getting better and better!

While this is part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone, although I’d recommend reading the previous books if only to enjoy how each character has found their HEA and how it affects Leighton’s views on love and life.
Lucy and Leighton’s relationship was fire from the beginning. I love it when an author is not afraid to portray consenting adults that are not afraid to act on a mutual attraction, especially when they act with respect and communication. That to me is gold in real life and my romance books. Even though Leighton wasn’t fully “honest” in the beginning (and with good reason) the attraction was real and well depicted. Lucy was smart yet sweet. She didn’t do the damsel in distress thing but knew when it was time to leave things in the hands of the experts.

The whole series is engaging and suspenseful and this book didn’t vary from that premise. Here, we get to see all members of the team in action and their different roles during an operation. I think what I love the most about this series that sense of affectionate camaraderie among the members, including the women. I’ve loved all of the books but I think this is my favorite so far. Romance, suspense, action all wrapped in a nice little package. Definitely recommend.

Another nail biting story in this series

I have come to absolutely love this author, and once again, this talented author gives the listener a great addition to this series.
We finally get to spend time with Leighton, the loner with sad eyes, whose friends have been worried about. He’s a former Marine that experienced more than any person should have to deal with in war.
Now working with his friends in Redemption Harbor Consulting, he volunteers to travel to New Orleans in order to destroy the Russian that has an empire of trafficking, drugs etc.
At first, Lucy Carreras, the Russian’s niece, is the means to an end , but quickly it’s evident that she is clueless of her uncle’s shady business. She proposes to help him get justice.
The attraction is powerful but many obstacles have to be overcome.
This is a story filled with suspense, bad guys and romance. I always enjoy that we get a chance to spend time with characters of previous stories, always a plus .
Looking forward to more stories by Ms. Reus.
Kudos to the narrator, Ms. Eastlake, who always excels in her delivery and grabs the listeners attention from the start.
