About this listen

"Khristine Hvam’s narration is as heartfelt as the story of 12-year-old Coyote Sunrise...both the story and Hvam’s distinctive narration will linger in listeners’ minds"—AudioFile on The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise, an Earphones Award winner

From #1 New York Times-bestselling author Dan Gemeinhart comes a standalone companion to the critically-acclaimed The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise about a father and daughter who venture on a moving, uplifting, and rollicking cross-country road trip.

It's been almost a year since Coyote and her dad left the road behind and settled down in a small Oregon town. . . time spent grieving the loss of her mom and sisters and trying to fit in at school. But just as life is becoming a new version of normal, Coyote discovers a box containing her mom’s ashes. And she thinks she might finally be ready to say goodbye.

So Coyote and her dad gear up for an epic cross-country road trip to scatter the ashes at her mom’s chosen resting place. The only problem? Coyote has no idea where that resting place is—and the secret’s hidden in a book that Coyote mistakenly sold last year, somewhere in the country. Now, it’s up to Coyote to track down the treasured book . . . without her dad ever finding out that it’s lost.

It’s time to fire up their trusty bus, Yager, pick up some old friends, discover some new ones, and hit the road on another unforgettable adventure.

I enjoyed the book. I will recommend it to my junior high kid. It had a good message and good characters.

I couldn’t imagine how the sequel could be as enjoyable as the first book, but boy was I wrong. As I write this, my eyes are leaking and my heart is full. I recommend this novel with no hesitation. I listened to it on Audible. The narration was captivating. I look forward to more books from this author.

I ADORED the first Coyote book and fell in love with her found family. I was content when the first rollercoaster of a book ended. Then this book came out and I couldn’t wait to get back in the world of Yager, Rodeo, Ivan and Coyote! I laughed, gasped and cried. Another heartwarming ride with a newish found family 💜

The Sequel I Didn’t Know I NEEDED!!!

It’s rare you read (or listen to) a sequel that’s as remarkable as the original, but this one really delivers. Same wonderful narrator with her wonderful voices for different characters. And the story was full of heart and hope and love once again, despite also having a lot of grief and sadness, too. Beautiful story for upper middle grade or older.

Wonderful sequel

I loved this sequel! I didn’t realize Coyote’s story needed a sequel until I listened to this book. And I’m so glad I did! Just as good as the first one ❤️

Coyote and her dad are characters that will live with me and my students for the rest of our lives.💕

I am a teacher, and I read the first book with two students for a book club. I usually don’t love to read middle school books, but I do it for the kids. I absolutely loved the first one, and I was so excited for the sequel!! I really enjoyed this one, too. Coyote is such a cute character. This book is really emotional, but it is also fun! The only reason I didn’t give the story 5 stars was because I thought Coyote could have come clean a little earlier. Even though she is trying to protect her dad’s feelings, it was hard to hear her “lie” to her dad for so long. She definitely redeems herself though. Would recommend for kids and adults!! I actually bought the book of poems you hear about in this book, and it is fabulous, too. Great narrator!!!

Love this series

I liked that coyote was trying and trying and trying. I also liked that she was not like anyone you'll ever meet

I didn’t know coyote had another story to share with us, but of course she did!! I have no hesitation in recommending this book, so heartfelt - and a little sad - yet with the perfect balance of unique and creative humor. This seires also addresses important issues related to racism, covid 19, LGBTQ+, but the author puts these in a quiet way, in my opinion completely appropriate for ages 8+. (Even my grandma liked this duo!) Khristine Hvan does the best narration ever, and speaks clearly the entire time and fits the parts perfectly! BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing book for ages 8+, awesome for kids and their parents. I do recommend listening to the first one first. It wont make as much sense (: By the way, I think we should all try and by more like Wally. Listen to the book to see what I mean! If you love this book I recommend The Land Of Stories by Chris Colfer, Chirp by Kate Messner, The Seventh Wish by Kate Messner, The Sea In Winter by Christine Day, I Can Make This Promise by Christine Day
