About this listen
2019 Amazon.com Best Books of the Year
*Winner of a Parents' Choice Gold Award*
A 2020 Audie Awards Finalist
"Khristine Hvam's narration is as heartfelt as the story of 12-year-old Coyote Sunrise.... Both the story and Hvam's distinctive narration will linger in listeners' minds." (AudioFile magazine, Earphones Award winner)
Five years.
That's how long Coyote and her dad, Rodeo, have lived on the road in an old school bus, criss-crossing the nation.
It's also how long ago Coyote lost her mom and two sisters in a car crash.
Coyote hasn't been home in all that time, but when she learns that the park in her old neighborhood is being demolished - the very same park where she, her mom, and her sisters buried a treasured memory box - she devises an elaborate plan to get her dad to drive 3,600 miles back to Washington state in four days...without him realizing it.
Along the way, they'll pick up a strange crew of misfit travelers. Lester has a lady love to meet. Salvador and his mom are looking to start over. Val needs a safe place to be herself. And then there's Gladys.... Over the course of thousands of miles, Coyote will learn that going home can sometimes be the hardest journey of all...but that with friends by her side, she just might be able to turn her "once upon a time" into a "happily ever after."
Praise for The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise:
"If Katherine Applegate says a book 'just plain makes you want to hug the world,' you know there's magic there. And if you have narrator Khristine Hvam delivering a warm, slightly twangy performance as said book's travel-worn protagonist, then that's a listening experience not to be missed." (Paste.com)

Story
A hilarious new middle grade novel from beloved and best-selling author Gordon Korman about what happens when the worst class of kids in school is paired with the worst teacher. The Unteachables never thought they’d find a teacher who had a worse attitude than they did. And Mr. Kermit never thought he would actually care about teaching again. Over the course of a school year, though, room 117 will experience mayhem, destruction - and maybe even a shot at redemption.

His name is synonymous with high-stakes wilderness survival stories. Now, beloved author Gary Paulsen portrays a series of life-altering moments from his turbulent childhood as his own original survival story. If not for his summer escape from a shockingly neglectful Chicago upbringing to a North Woods homestead at age five, there never would have been a Hatchet. Without the encouragement of the librarian who handed him his first book at age 13, he may never have become a reader.

Feel-Good Summer Story
This was charming and unexpectedly delightful. I found myself laughing out loud more than once. I needed a sweet summer story that had adventure, purpose and great characters. Light and breezy. It is a wonderful feel-good book about friendship and the love of family.

Moving story
The story / plot moves at a perfect pace.
There is a large amount physical movement in this book - interesting and exciting situations that keep the characters hustling.
The emotional journey was strong enough to move both my daughter and myself (11 and 56).

A great journey for both young and old
I asked my 15-year-old daughter what book she wanted me to read that showed me the kind of book she loved. This was the one and only book that she could imagine recommending. I loved listening to the narrator she has a great voice, and now I understand why my daughter loved the book! Not only does it have great writing but it also had me feeling all the emotions one could want. I really was impressed by how wonderfully descriptive the author was without being obvious.
