Publisher's summary

In her 25th adventure, vampire hunter and necromancer Anita Blake learns that evil is in the eye of the beholder...

Anita has never seen Damian, her vampire servant, in such a state. The rising sun doesn't usher in the peaceful death that he desperately needs. Instead, he's being bombarded with violent nightmares and blood sweats.

And now, with Damian at his most vulnerable, Anita needs him the most. The vampire who created him, who subjected him to centuries of torture, might be losing control, allowing rogue vampires to run wild and break one of their kind's few strict taboos.

Some say love is a great motivator, but hatred gets the job done, too. And when Anita joins forces with her friend Edward to stop the carnage, Damian will be at their side, even if it means traveling back to the land where all his nightmares spring from...a place that couldn't be less welcoming to a vampire, an assassin, and a necromancer.

Ireland.

more Anita Blake series please!!

Loved the story! I'm a little sad, but I hope we have more Edward and Anita hunting something big soon. Overall the story was killer, looking forward the next chapter of our favorite vampire hunter.

Sex Is Not Romance

I have been reading the series since 'Burnt Offerings' was released and I have always loved the creative take on the vampire and lycanthrope mythos. I have become steadily disappointed with the constant focus on sex instead of supernatural adventure. I never minded the sensual aspect, but the series in general, and this book in particular, has essentially turned into raunchy pornography with some adventure/ suspense/ magic elements.

Anita Blake in Ireland

Anita took us all the way to Ireland with a mix of danger, necromancy, and Vanpire drama.

LOVED IT!!!

loved it! didn't like that one of the Harlequin had to explain to Anita and Jean-Claude how something happened that was so very obvious to the listener/reader especially when they've explained this possibility clearly in previous books. I did appreciate more time spent with her lovers but it could have been shortened a bit to give us more time in Ireland working the actual case. it's like 2 books in one. one part case one part Anita's personal life. the balance was just a bit off but overall I loved this book as I love all the other Anita books. I own the whole series in paperback and am currently working on having them all on audible.
