About this listen

How do you raise a boy who can bend reality with his mind? How do you keep him levelheaded, sane, and good? Raising any child is a tremendous undertaking, let alone one blessed by the goddess herself. Levi Guildersleeve, retired soldier and successful collector of rare books, finds himself as the only male role model of the most powerful witch ever born. This is a prequel story of the childhood of Declan O'Carroll, as told by Levi.

3rd Times a Charm!

Just a fan here. I read this as a Vella story, then when the ebook came out and now this. This is one of my favorite series of all time. I guess I'd put it at 3 outta my top ten. That's a mixed genre list too. Now I'm waiting for Blood Culled on audio.

Always a good time

John Conroe delivers yet again with a detailed and captivating backstory of Levi Guildersleeve. We get key points in Declan’s backstory as well. Listen to it, you will not be disappointed!

Great prequel

I really enjoyed this background look and how Levi played a part in the overall story.

I love this series.

This is a retelling of some of the story we have heard, and other books in the series. But Levi’s point of you is interesting. Besides, I love this series and could listen to it all over again.

Best of series

I liked learning about Levi as he doesn’t play much of a role in the other books. He sure plays a role in the raising of Declan which explains so much about the young witch. Outstanding story and enough excitement that I couldn’t put it down.

When Chuck Norris was born he drove his mom home from the hospital.

Like the rest of this series I have found this book to be more enjoyable than I expected. I appreciate that less time was spent telling us how stunningly beautiful everyone was, and less time was spent reciting gun names and specs. It did a good job of humanizing Declan and showed us that he had actual training over the years to explain how he acquired his skills. I’m not sure how he had time for school, martial arts training and teaching, magic training, homework, robotics club, working in the restaurant, tending a large garden, splitting vast amounts of wood, and hanging out with his friends. When did he sleep?! Loved the Chuck Norris jokes.

I love this book as I do this entire series. It’s my goto when waiting for another in the series or others. The reader is fantastic and I really hope it’s made into a tv series some day

Icebreaker.

Not a bad start. Interesting characters. Not quite bold or descriptive enough to remember other than names. Levi could use a bit more action on his part.
