About this listen

On a cool October morning, Lauren Wilder is shaken when she comes close to striking Bo Laughlin with her car as he's walking along the road's edge. A young man well known in their small town of Hardys Walk, Texas, Bo seems fine, even if Lauren's intuition says otherwise. Since the accident two years ago that left her brain in a fragile state, she can't trust her own instincts - and neither can her family. Then Bo vanishes, and as the search for him ensues, the police question whether she's responsible. Lauren is terrified, not of what she remembers but of what she doesn't.

Unable to trust herself and unwilling to trust anyone else, Lauren begins her own investigation into the mystery of Bo's disappearance. But the truth can prove to be as shocking as any lie, and as Lauren exposes each one, from her family, from her friends, she isn't the only one who will face heart-stopping repercussions.

Kept me guessing

What a wonderful story where more than one storyline intertwined with curious wonder. This was the first time I’d read this author but I will now have her on my list!

Impeccable writing

I never write reviews. I'm not a critic, trained or otherwise. I simply don't understand the hate that this book gets in reviews. No, it's not suspenseful. No, it doesn't play out like a normal mystery novel. It does throw you into people's lives and gives you every detail that you need to feel for them and care about their struggles. I read all types of books and this one is just written beautifully. It even ended well. It is no small task to end a story well.

The narrator made it undesirable.

I tried to give the book a chance, but the narrator made that impossible. The plot caught my interest and I'll probably read it myself since I both book and audiobook.

I really did enjoy this book and the very distinct characters. I like the way that the story could have gone in so many different way and the end was a little surprising. Overall I would definitely recommend this book it is very entertaining

Great book!

I couldn't put it down. She draws you in with the characters and suspense from the beginning. I will look for more books with this author.

Somewhat slow story.

The book is decent but pace is slow. I found it confusing trying to figure out what or who was talking due to the switching back and forth between Annie and Lauren. The ending left me feeling sad! I listen while I do other things so it was a pleasant listen. I got the book free from Pubabooks and Amazon but I had to pay $1.99 for the audio to be added. It was worth it. I can't afford Audible.com anymore so this lets me listen to books although not the newest " hottest" books I listened to for the 10+ years I was a Platinum Audible member. P.S. I wish authors would give their characters names that start with different letters. The Jeff and J.T.

Narrator ruined it for me

Would you be willing to try another one of Natalie Ross’s performances?

NO

Do you think Crooked Little Lies needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No

Any additional comments?

The story was OK although rather slow, Had to finish it by reading the Kindle version. Couldn't take any more of the narrator.
