About this listen

A new second-chance stand-alone office romance from USA Today best-selling author K. A. Linde....

Walking away from Sam Rutherford was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

It’s been five years since that day, and I’ve given up on looking for love. My focus is on my career. And it’s paid off - I’m successfully managing the reelection for the mayor of New York City.

Then, Sam walks into my office as the new legal counsel. Which means I have to see him every single day from now until November. We vow to remain professional, but it’s a small office. The sly glances and his blistering charm are unavoidable.

It all feels so familiar. Too comfortable. After what happened the first time...I should know better.

If I’m not careful, he’ll break my heart all over again.

And I don’t know if I can survive Sam a second time.

"K.A. Linde never fails. Ever. Read this book!" (Corinne Michaels, New York Times best-selling author)

Please tell me there is more to come from this group!

It wasn’t a cliffhanger but it was. I want more! More Katherine, More English, more everyone. I thought it was great. There were some negative reviews that made me pick up on a few things but honestly, the upper east side is a different culture so you kind of have to make the distinction. Big Linde fan, and thought she killed it again with this one! My only disappointment will come if there is not a second book in this series because this story teed it up to have at least three more very interesting storylines! Of course narration was great.

Loved it!

Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon are two of the best narrators today. I'm invested in this series and this book didn't disappoint.

Wow! What a book and narration!!! Easy listen and magnificent plot!

What a book! Magnificent plot, fantastic character development and such good writing! KA. Linde once again gives us another phenomenal book in the Cruel series!

This book is a second chance lovers story that is a slow burn with lots of angst. Be sure to read Cruel Promise before this book to get all the background and history between Lark and Sam! These two have a past which complicates things when they see each other again. Can they overcome their past history and make things work again?

Lark’s job throughout these books is working on political campaigns. Her passion for the Mayor’s campaign, her views on feminism and dedication to getting people to vote was inspiring! I loved how K.A. Linde gave her such a powerful voice on the topic throughout the whole book! Lark could have had the ability to work her parents multi billion dollar company but chose her passion in life and stood her ground on the topic. I loved this about Lark as she was such a strong female character!

Erin Mallon continues to do an amazing job narrating these Upper East Side women!!! Jason Clarke was swoon worthy as Sam! His voice was the perfect pairing with Erin!

Review: Seasons 1: The Lying Season

Lying Season by K.A. Linde is the first full length interconnected standalone story in her Seasons series. The full story of second chances and fated love when Larkin St Vincent and Sam Rutherford meet again in the re-election campaign offices for Mayor Kensington. After a bitter ending, Lark isn't sure how to handle seeing Sam again. She has all these feelings that she hasn't dealt with and seeing him brings everything back to the surface and leaves her feeling raw. Sam is living in New York, somewhere he didn't think he'd ever be, especially when Lark and he ended abruptly five years ago. But moving here with his girlfriend a couple of years ago placed him in New York and then his new job landed him in Larks world, once again.

Angst-ridden, filled with emotion, heartbreak, passion, and pain, this story was a slow build to a great ending, and the perfect introduction to Lark's crew from the Upper East Side which we will meet more of in the upcoming books in this series. LOVED IT! Enjoy!

Audio narration was, as expected with these two super stars, beyond perfection. Jason & Erin's ability to embody the character they are reading is spectacular! Loved the audio!

Sweet and Steamy Second Chance Romance!

Cruel Truth by K.A. Linde was a fun, low angst, and hot second chance romance. Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon narrate this audio. (These two are always one click narrators for me.)

Lark and Sam have a history that is explored Cruel Promise. Fast forward 5 years later when Lark is working on the campaign for Leslie Kensington who is running for NYC mayor. By coincidence Sam gets a job working on Leslie's legal council and these two have a second chance. There are several obstacles and challenges in their way, but will they make it work?

Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon brought all their steamy chemistry with their performances of Sam and Lark. Jason Clarke's female voices and different character voices always amaze me. He truly is a master story teller. Erin's performance of Lark was fantastic, not to mention her male voice is all kinds of hot! Both narrators did a great job of bringing these characters to life!

Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook. This book was the first in the series, and I'm looking forward to learning more about the side characters and them finding their HEAs as well!

Good story

Just found this author and have really been enjoying her books through Audiobook. while the stories suck you in, some of the narrators leave me less enthused. I wish they would use the proper voices for the proper people instead of having people change their voices for different parts :/ However that is irrelevant to the author or the story. I find those great!

AMAZING

normally I read books and then listen... However due to the fact that THESE specific narrators were involved I just decided to listen first ... And OMG it was sublimely perfect. Sam and Lark were the epitome of sharing a wonderfully chaotic relationship, only to find themselves in the same situation 5 years later.
This story was so good. Please listen or read right now.

The Crew Stories Continue ❤️❤️

It was great to hear Crew member Larks’ story. This series builds on the Cruel Series where the members of the Crew were originally introduced through Penn & Nat’s story. This book is sold as a standalone but I’d really recommend reading cruel for a deeper experience.

I can’t wait to hear the rest of the crew’s and hopefully supporting characters stories.

Narration was awesome.
